fitted two near side turbos in 300 miles

after each one there was loads of smoke

fitted new oil pipe this time

car still smokes abit now and then

not all the time

how long would oil in pipes and intercoolers take to burn off

did you check the return as well? Not that this will make it smoke, just asking seeing as you have had a prob. The oil cant get in if it cant get out. If you know what I mean?

Quite a lot of oil can get into the coolers etc when a turbo fails and it might take some time to go fully, but I would guess it wont take long before you cant notice it burning. A lot of air is pushed through when you are driving. How many miles have you been? And make sure everything else is OK too, sometimes you can miss something...

ive only done about 120 miles

yes i did check the return

i noticed it smoke more after i jacket it up on the opposite side

thats why i was thinking oil in the intercooler

It could "pool" in the bottom, and depending on the actual flow through the cooler it might stay there for ages. Sounds like take it off and clean it, or drive it and see. Depending on how brave you are. I think if it was me I would take it off, or remove the pipes (?) and look/clean. Especially after the probs you have had.

Just a thought, but I had the exact same problem. Swopped the PCV valves from side to side and when fitted them the other side smoked ! :rolleyes:

 

Swapped the valve from my mates and it cleared up. As a matter of interest we fitted my suspect valve in his, and it smoked like a good-un !!

 

Cleaned the valve and re-fitted it, still the same, so even if the valve is clean, I guess it can still be faulty ???

 

Dunno, but maybe worth a try mate ??

no not yet thought it was them but it was the turbo f@cked

twice but as it isnt smokeing all the time i think i will look at them
