Oil Filters

I buy my filters etc from Ajay Autoparts who in turn are supplied by Blueprint (OE spec Jap part suppliers) the last oil filter that I'm just about to fit cost £2.93 + VAT so if you're thinking about a filter change I bet u can't beat that price, get down to Ajays and stock up.

Blue Print part no. ADN12103

Yeah I use Motoquip ones about the same price, and I change the oil every 1000 miles coz I'm a paranoid obsessive with a fetish for Redline

Yeah, I try my best, but if you're all going to descend on me wanting oil filters, let me know first so I can at least be there biggrin.gif

Glenn,

1000 miles ????? You are paranoid. I change mine every 3000 and this is a little over the top, although most of my journeys are short (

I use either pukka Nissan filters, if I happen to be somewhere that sells them, or the expensive ones from Harrys, Champion I think.

Has anybody faffed around with those magnetic bands that collect all the bits of steel swarf/dust that tend to appear in engines ?

Damn you beat me to it smile.gif

Oh yeah - and where's my filter, I ordered it weeks ago... Honest..!? biggrin.gif

P.S. my sense of humour seems to be failing me today.. Definitely below par..

The Blueprint filters are jap made and are, apparently, exactly the same as OE.

I've been using the Champion filters up to now.

Glen - 1000 mls, christ I hope you're not using fully synthetic too, that would be an oil change every 18 days for me and £33 a pop.

Tim

Ehhhhhhh! Senna are you sure you change the oil every 1000 miles? I thought I was OTT at

3000 biggrin.gif!

Thank god im normal, i tend to do it every 1500 miles biggrin.gif so that puts me in partial sanity.

Wazza!!! are you serious? and do you use fully synthetic?

I had fully synthetic elf racing oil, since i got my engine redone, but have since changed to mobil 15w 50 not fully convinced of synthetic oil

Fully Synthetic engine oil is the ultimate!!!

Why arn't you convinced waZZa?

Jeez, Wazza could probably use Mazola if he changes it every 1500 miles ! wink.gif

Not surprising that he isn't convinced about the real thing. The only place you really shouldn't use a synthetic oil is in very old engines that have sludge traps instead of oil filters - like old Ducati Desmo's.

Andy - there is also the debate on fully synth & rubber seals.. Supposedly mineral/petroleum based oils tend to 'plump up' the oil seals, which on older (i.e. high mileage) engines can be cracked.. replacing the oil with synth leads to the cracks opening up..

Personally I'm a fully synth man - Mobil1 15w50 motorsport, but I'll be changing to Redline 15w50 when I finish and get the car running again..
