Why is the drivers side seat belt so loose!

Starts off okay but just get looser during journey...

Had door cover off and all seems okay, any advice to resolve without buying a replacement?

cheers

its an electronic thing I think. When its loose kill the engine see if it tightens again. If so then ours does that aswell on the passengers belt.

Just age, theres no electronic thing on the seatbelt.

are you saying that the seatbelt only works when the engine is on ???????#

Hmmmmmmmmmm, youll find that seatbelts do go with age. the mechanism stops working properly.

I see, and where does one obtain a working seat belt for a small cost?

no im saying it works much better with no power. Which leaves me to believe that its something electronic in it. Cos every time the belt tightens up to normal tightness when the engine is turned off.

AndyZ is prob gonna be dismantaling another Z. Look in the Wanted/For Sale section

I read on a previous thread that there is some kind of electric pre-tensioner fitted to jap spec belts - Is yours a J'Spec?

Have a search throgh the threads - sorry can't be arsed at the mo biggrin.gif

Jap spec cars do have pre-tensioners, having had 2 J specs both have little motor / solenoids attached to the shaft of the seat belt reels. When power is removed or a crash that trips the shock sensor, belts tighten, however I think the slowly loosening belt is a slack reel as my driver side is ok unlike my previous one.

yes jap car but when alarm was fitted didn't see and electrics connecting to belt...

and to think u weren't going to believe me. Anyway I don't know where the things are. Just goes to show how many gadgets the japs can manage to cram in.

sprry i forgot to mention that if you pull out some more belt then let go it will reel back in to normal tightness. It is bazzare when it just keeps getting looser!
