I'm having a '99 spec front fitted at the moment but I havent actually seen one in the flesh yet, do they have an "import" size numberplate mount at the front? getting some new plates for my private number made up, can i get away with the little ones without too much hasstle from the fuzz??

thats what I was thinking of, mate has one on his gto, apparently if the plate fits the mount on an import then its tough titty mr police man nothing they can do...

i dont think its legal but the police dont say nothing to me in all the time they have seen mine

 

the only prob is MOT time by law you need the correct spacing..easy solution replace old un for mot then remove for 1yr :dance:

Talking to plod the other day,he told me that the goverment,not police, are setting up a scheme to clamp down on illegal plates,and I mean everything to size of digits etc-something to bear in mind! ;)

Nice sounds like another revenue raising excersise!! everthing from modded cars, to lorries, to taxis, to somebodies mums corsa has non-standard plates these days with funky lettering! somebody somwhere is rubbing thier hands with glee at the thought of all those £50 fines!!

so what is the exact size of the plates you have on the 99 spec bumpers then ? I have just got a 99 spec fitted, butthe garage put a HUGE normal UK spec plate on it !! It looks awful !

is that about 7" by 4" ?

basically take off your no.plate and look at the front its crying out for a small plate think its more 7x3 but ul see what size you want ;)

I Recently Saw A Zed At Zedworld With A Stick On Numberplate Like The E Types Etc Have. Are They Legal ? Cos If They Are I'd Love To Get Rid Of My Original!

Correct size to fit a '99 spec mounting is 340mm x 80mm.

oooh that would look nice! and then use a "sticker" number plate like the jag somebody mentioned earlier?

Stick on plates are legal BTW - Had one on my greddy front nose before it hit another car ! They look superb if done right. Got all the stuff to do it from B&Q !! Legally you can have them of there is no mounting plate for a plastic one
