I'm toying with the idea of moving from my S13 to a 300.

I've test driven a 300 and liked it. I plan on test driving another and if I still like the car I'll then get one.

The only vehicle I've seen so far that I've liked is the one for sale on this forum:-

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=36868

I would have prefered lower mileage and it being a few years younger... I did see one on Bonsai (94,55000 miles) but its already got a deposit on it).

My main concerns are obviously reliability and costs. So a couple of questions for any Zed experts:-

1) Is there anything obvious I should be asking about that vehicle (that I haven't already)?

2) Is the exhaust very noisy (HKS Super Drager Exhaust

)? I don't mind a nice mild burble, but I don't personally like noisy exhausts you can hear coming from around a corner.

3) Types? How expensive out of interest? (bridgestone potenza on front 235/40/zr18, on the back 265/35/zr18)

4) Now the biggy... This car is up in Manchester... Any of you experts up near there who would be willing to give it a check over with me if I do end up looking at it? (This is a big big if at the moment!)

I'm in no rush though, so I may just keep an eye out and see what else pops up. But something like this, maybe newer with lower mileage wuold be ideal!

But just ignore him if he keeps talking about his "precious"....;)

"I'm a fraud. A poor, lazy, sexy fraud."

Neil - this is a golden opportunity.

I haven't been on this site long but this guy knows his stuff!

You could pay over a hundred quid for an AA inspection and it wouldn't be anything like as good. No where near.

Well I guess so anyway. I've never met him. He might just be a convincing mentalist. ;)

single exhausts tend to be noisier i spose its to do with the fact that noise is travelling down 1pipe instead of 2 emphasizing the noise in theory :)

And the exhaust in question (on the Silver 300) is a single pipe yes?

yes, I believe it around £400'ish to replace for something like a Mongoose 4 exhaust system if you wished, which i thnk it quieter.

..or I imagine somebody may have an old stock system gathering dust somewhere, after upgrading to an aftermarket one.

Well it certainly looks like it in the pictures...

And here's a quote from the owner

The exhause is loud but not painfully. Sounds very sporty and has a good roar. Difficult to explain the sound and noise level of a exhaust but it sounds very good.

Hmmm... I really wouldn't want a loud exhaust when just poodling round town...

Well it certainly looks like it in the pictures...

And here's a quote from the owner

Once man's quiet is another man's loud of course.

If I can't drive around town without my exhausting alerting everyone to my presence it would drive me nutts. The only time I wouldn't mind it being a bit loud is if I'm booting it...

I had a superdrager on my 300.

With decat.

It was ummm fairly loud............. ;) :p

I must apologize if my non-boy racer preferences do not coincide with yours. FYI I do not intend to drive my car with a baseball cap on backwards or my arm out of the window.

From what people are saying the exhaust is very loud, which would mean it would wind me up and I'd have to change it...

And here's another quote from someone with a Super Drager

Currently if got Z-Centre downpipes on and a super drager catback on, but it sounds too refined for what i want, could do with it a bit louder.

Incidentally, I found it using the search facility...

Get out! GET OUT! AND DON'T COME BACK!

You evil little man.

Well that sounds far more promising!!! I'm going to have to drive for 4hr to look at it aren't I

I'll test drive another local one on Sat and if I like it I have three options:-

1) Drive for 4hrs to look at this one in Manchester

2) Wait - I'm in no rush...

3) Stick with my S13 after all :)

Why not phone the owner and ask him to stand by the car with his mobile etc, then you could listen and analyze the noise? ;)

You must have seen/heard a superdragger, they are one of the most popular

I think you need to re-read this thread... I do not appreciate someone calling me an idiot just because I'm concerned about exhaust noise.

If you feel like critisizing someone, maybe check the post "AdamR" who started flaming for no reason. Or is it OK in your book to go blindly calling people idiots?

FFS guys chill

He was only joking. Take a chill pill.

Out of interest Andy, if I did want to check out that car this Sunday or next Sunday would that be convenient with you? (eg: midday/early PM)

From what I've read you own a very similar aged one?

Lmfao!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: :xxx:

FFS if I was gonna call you an idiot, I'd call you an idiot, not a fooking eeejit!!!

Now I just think your a tw@t :xxx:  :xxx:
