Track day @ Kemble

Just had an email in from easytrack.co.uk, about a Beginner's Track Day, seems very well priced:

1) Beginners Day at Kemble (in support of The Great Ormond Street

Children’s Hospital Beaujolais Charity Challenge) Saturday 10th November,

Kemble Airfield.

If you have never done a track day before this is the ideal opportunity, in an inexpensive way, to come and see what it is all about !!

If you book into this event you need to be a beginner, and you will receive for the laughable sum of just forty quid a session with an instructor and 4 solo sessions on the track at Kemble Airfield Nr Cirencester, Glos.

You will also get to meet plenty of regular easytrack members, get to hear a few hero stories and enjoy passenger rides in a range of auto-exotica, including Ferrari, Porsche and Caterhams.

£40 for a session with instructor then 4 solo sessions - not bad smile.gif

Might give it a go as I haven't taken the 300 on track only the old Elise.

2.5 Miles and a couple of nice long straights:

as i cant be arsed to get the map out or put the autoroute cd in. where abouts is Kemble?

I quote

'Kemble Airfield rests in a picturesque area of the Cotswolds, on the Gloustershire and Wiltshire border. From the M4, exit at either J15, 16 or 17 and head towards Cirencester. From the M5 exit at 11 onto

the A419 towards Cirencester or 9 at Stroud and head to Cirencester which is signed from there.

The entrance to the track is on the A433 Cirencester to Tetbury road. If coming from Cirencester this road starts off as the A429 but the A429 turns left to Kemble village etc. Ignore this and carry straight

on. Ignore ALL signs to Kemble and shortly after leaving Cirencester you'll go up a gentle hill where the road turns right at the top. On the left is a single-track road signed "Jackements Bottom Farm" Take

this. 500m down the road you'll find the entrance to the track.'

im in, when how who what blah blah blah.....

just enough time to get a bi of experience before the ring tt tim

This sounds great - does anyone have any more details on how to book ? Also, are passengers allowed ? Are helmets needed ?

Cheers

Dave

Never been to one of these events, do they supply safety equipment?? Crash Helmets etc...

Ambulance on standby .... you guys haven't seen me drive :-)

LOL. Only joking, I'll be driving like a granny for fear of breaking anything.

I could be in for this, good idea Tim.

George,

I've been to track days but I'm still very much a novice, never been very good and never done it in the 300.

This day sounds like it could be very good, it's designed as a beginners day, tuition is included in the price, the only safty gear you will need is a helmet, you can hire them from the organisers for £10 or buy them for £50. Oh, and don't wear your work boots smile.gif

There will be ambulances, first aid etc on site.

It's not a race day just a way to find out what you and your car can safely do, plenty of run off and no trees etc.

Have a look at their web site for more details.

Hope to see you there.

Tim

Nice one Andy, see you're on the list now.

See you there.

Come on guyz the more the merrier biggrin.gif

Tim biggrin.gif

Yup, I'm well up for it. Wazza is on the list now too.

Down to 11 places now I think. Come on guyZ...

Andy

QUICK, QUICK, Run like the wind! I wanna see those fingers...

...only 2 places left and we now have 4Zs.

Common Just one more!

Tim biggrin.gif

Just booked so now there's only 7 places left - those guys who missed track time at trax where are you????

CheerZ,

Andy

OK it is now full frown.gif $ zeds going in all - 3 red and one white. There's also a 200 going so should be fun smile.gif

Z you guyZ there,

Andy

I'm in as first reserve, although I'd prefer to give the Westfield a spin as it's been sitting in a garage for most of the last 3 years. It'll probably take me 30 laps to unseize the brakes.

Not sure if the Westfield will pass the 103Db noise limit though with its single cherry bomb straight through silencer. I may take the Z after all

------------------

dylan.jpg

4 300ZXs (5 if dylan takes his and gets in as 1st reaserve) and 2 200SXs.

Don't know how much track time we'll get but should be a good laugh, can't persuade the Mrs to drive though, thinks you lot'll give her a hard time, her words were: 'there's soing to be too much testosterone flying around' maybe next time.

Looking forward to it, who's going from the South East, I know Warren will be but who else?

well this is going to be cool, just ordered my brakes biggrin.gif

i wonder how long the straights are...????

i managed a legite 147mph the otherday wink.gif on the A##$$%%$## lol.. im keen to go faster...

tttim we could meet up and all go together, andrew ingram will be aswell near us or can meet up on the way....

Hope the straights are not too long, the Westfield will probably top out at about 115mph

I remember driving around Le Mans and hitting my top speed about 3 seconds after entering the Mulsanne straight (before they put the chicane in). 2 miles of constant speed with eyes streaming, it seemed like forever, could've knitted a jumper smile.gif

For the people who wanted to go but can't get in now, I'll let you stroke my helmet afterwards if you want biggrin.gif LMFAO

CheerZ,

Andy

Just read my e-mail and receive one from easytrack...

Apparently there was an error with my booking and it HASN'T gone through!!!!

Can't even seem to get on to site now either

just comes up with foreign text!!!

turboman

Rob,

That is a serious bummer, do they only allow one reserve?

Might be worth seeing if they'll take a 2nd. If not do come along and meet up, I have only met Warren once and it'll be the first time I've met either of the Andys. Could be a good laugh..

Later m8

Tim

I'm ok but that other Andy is a right tw** smile.gif

Anyway, I guess I'll be meeting Warren on the M4/M25 junction like we did for Trax. Then it's a straight drive from there.

A word to the wise: look out for white vans on the hard shoulder of the M4 with lenses sticking out of the back - and slow down for them! Maybe we should try a more sedate pace this time? I think I hit a higher speed on the M4 on the way to Trax than I did actually at Trax.

Andy

You think you hit a higher speed andy , lol... hell the shuttle doesent hit those speeds on reorbiting the atmosphere wink.gif

Oh yeah and the other Andy is a fantastic guy, biggrin.gif

[This message has been edited by 300z (edited 17-10-2001).]

A lesson in how to win friends and influence people from Andy and Warren there biggrin.gif

We'll sort out some timings and I'll meet you at the M4/M25 J. as well as I'm coming up from Kent.

That'll be 3 red Zs then. What's that? About £120 and 9 points biggrin.gif

Later guyz

Tim
