Actual headlights fit straight in but the cable connectors to the dip beam are slightly different, but easy to sort out.

nice one jeff, wot do i need to do to make them compatible?

The UK spec lights had an earth point built in to the lamps at the bulb position the Jap spec did not so different bulbs were used, to fit UK spec lamps to Jap spec zed is quite simple, the bulb ( H3 TYPE) has a single cable connected to it this has a spade connector on the end push that in to the live side of the two prong jap connector on the car and then the earth tag coming out of the headlight needs a spade connector adding and that goes in to the other side of the original Jap connector, if you get them the wrong way around then no problem as the light unit is housed in plastic anyhow so will not short out to the car anyhow, sounds more complicated than it is.
