I just had a shedload of work done (if I knew then what I know now......)

 

This was kicked off by the knock sensor needing replacing so, as those gurus who have done it will remember, the whole top of the engine had to come off. Everything from the lower inlet manifold upwards.

 

I realise (now) just how big a job this was but am still slightly :eek: stunned by the size of the bill.

 

The question is, how long do you think this lot would take?

 

Is 24 hours reasonable? That's 24 working hours for one bloke (3 days) or two blokes working for 12 hours etc etc. Does anyone have access to Nissan book times?

 

I had other stuff - like replacing coil pack connectors (which needed splicing) - done at the same time.

 

To give you an idea, the parts list was:

So did he came back from France to finish the job or did you find someone else?

 

I'm no expert but I'd have thought someone who knew the ZX could remove and refit the plenum, manifold etc in a day. Then perhaps another day for the other bits. :confused:

It's a long story... and it ain't over yet. Hence the request for info - just trying to find some facts to see if I need a legal eagle. All will be revealed if this saga ever finishes!

both parts of inlet manifold : 8.1hrs

cambelt: 4.3hrs (but a some of that ime is gonna be included in the above)

steering rack gaiter: 0.6hrs

lambda sensor: 0.7hrs (again, gonna be easier with plenum off)

 

there not gonna give a time for the harnesses, but 1hr is gonna be plenty!

OUCH!!!!!!!!!! :eek: I did that AND polished a plenum in that time FFS!!!!

I dont know what they where charging. But I had a full harness, all sencors, variable timing gear, breaks and hicas done in 3 days with all new everything. cost me 900 in labour but there was a lot more than you had done there.

24 hours is a very long time for the above precedure as Andy has said this should quite easily be done in half that time

hmmmm verrrry interesting. Thanks guys - if any one might be interested in doing an "official" report, pm me. Just getting the facts for now.....
