We have had some traders threaten to leave if these Very Large group buys continue and some traders are an excellent resouce of knowledge and all, of course, parts and where will we turn when the exchange rate gets worse, are we gonna say come back lads we ain't doing group buys anymore?

thts just economics, supply and demand is related to price and there will always be fluctuations, thts th way it works. if thy dnt happen on th forum thyl happen behind th committees back, much better if it can be regulated fairly on here without huge restrictions imposed

There is no huge restrictions imposed LOL you either buy goods from a Trader on the forum,or you go elswhere.

You can go and buy your parts wherever you want, some trader prices on here are very good and others are not so competitive.

If we just have a free for all then we wont have any traders,Ask Smithy how many times he reports a post because people want to sell without paying trader fees?

That's a different situation, to be fair. There are a lot of people trying to sell stuff *for profit* on the forum without paying to do so.

It's not always about the cheapest price is best either,It is about quality of service and people we can trust. That group buy you were refering to could have had an even bigger discount if you read the whole situation.

I'm not with you there

By definition the traders on the forum are commercial organizations who are running their businesses for a profit. This means that the prices they charge reflect this. In return members can use businesses operating under UK consumer laws and protection

Does the above paragraph make sense Dave?

Of course it makes sense to me and I'm sure there are some companies in the States who I wouldn't be happy dealing with. If I, and 10 other people, am prepared to take the risk, I can't see much reason for stopping us doing so.

Mac u know what i mean dude:

Group Buys - Members wanting to conduct group buys on the Club’s forum on a “not for profit” basis must first get approval from the TLO before the GB goes ahead. The TLO will make sure that GB items(s) cannot be supplied by one of the subscribed traders at a fair price and timeframe. The TLO's decision in the matter is final. Group Buys are defined as single item types/multiple buyers.

Combined Orders – Members wanting to conduct combined orders on the Club’s forum on a “not for profit” basis must keep the total number of members participating to 5 or less. Combined orders will be moderated if this policy is abused. Combined orders are defined as different item types/multiple buyers sharing shipping costs.

these are harsh IMO

I just know am going to regret saying this as it will bump up my "who whinges the most" votes

BUT as i read the jefftt thread giving advice to the members regarding boost leaks and advice as he often does, would a mod or commitee member be so good as to let us know what part of it breached forum rules, please feel free to show us the offending snippet so that we and more importantly jeff know what to avoid in the future.

Many thanks for your help :)

I stop as many as I can

Just shows what you really do take in Dave LOL 30% discount ring any bells?

We need control on here as the Traders have a living to make, just like you do at work Yas.

That was Ryan's group buy, not mine. Do try and pay attention!

Do what you want via PM or E-mail.

Cool!

Just to clarify though. Am I allowed to post a message to the forum asking people to email me if they want anything from, for example, Courtesy?

You can go and buy your parts wherever you want, some trader prices on here are very good and others are not so competitive.

If that's the case, why are the traders that are known to be not so competitive given this sort of protection, considering they only pay around £100 for the whole year (I think)?

I know whose GB it was PMSL,go back and read you will see James 300 could offer a 30% discount on those prices you paid,So if you were that bothered on saving a couple of quid would you not have saved even more if James took your order?

Are you for real? Or are you just doing what you are best at and moaning loke a kid with no sweets?

a controversial thread and i missed it? i must be getting old!!!

as someone who has only bought stuff through the traders

and via a trader groupbuy, i'm all for supporting them, but the logic of these new rules defeat me???

yep i can understand if a subscribed member advertises a group buy for something a trader already sells, and even if it was something they sold, and the price was slightly higher, i would still use one of the traders because of the service they offer

but if say Dave Marley offered a group buy on a product not offered, why would the GB be restricted to 5?? as your rules are then forcing members to pay higher prices

or am i missing something???

Yes, I would, assuming James had offered to do the group buy, which I don't believe he did. However, Ryan had offered to do it and I was happy for him to do so.

not denying you have done a great job and there are some great deals offered by th traders on here but you are in effect monopolising the market, if you get me.

Keep your eyes peeled instead of moaning you could save even more money

Are my figures wrong then? I could have sworn someone posted that the renewal amounts for traders were around £103.

Billy Simple answer really.......................

It is about people making profits out of the club and trading via the back door.

It was not the amount it was your comment I was reffering to.

but if according to th TLO the group buy is "non-profit making" then a restriction on th number of ppl defies logic and is:

1) unfair to those taking part as thy could potentially recieve more discount

2) unfair to ppl who would obviously miss out on a 1st come 1st serve basis which shud really be used when stock is limited

It was not the amount it was your comment I was reffering to.

Well, I stand by that.

You can call it moaning if you like (and I admit that I don't post about how happy I am every time I make myself some tea, for example ;) ), but I think it's a perfectly reasonable question.

LOL Yas all clubs have rules,IMHO If you don't like that club then why not go find another?

Do you think we just make rules up for the sake of doing it?

That's up to you but I dont think it is so I am not going to answer it.Oh I do think you moan alot. But hey some folk are not happy unless they moan;)

We can't be doing that bad.........
