Got traces of engine oil in the large pipes that go to the turbos.

What would cause the oil to get there ???

Anything blocked or worn ??

Cheers....

Also, would the oil burn up through the turbos and appear as greyish smoke out the back ?

Will it do any harm running the car with this problem ??

Cheers......

could be the turbos, tho more than likely just the PCV valves & hoses

replace these 1st as they are quite inexpensive & easy to replace :)

Removed the valves and gave em a clean. Passenger side one seemed to be the worst of the two. There is a small restrictor type thing in the rubber pipe that comes from the valve to the rocker cover on the passenger side.

What is its purpose ???

Ta....

I've heard that brass restrictor called a flame arrestor before now - but I think that really referrs to the 'chimney brush' type things that are in some of the pipes.

More recently I've seen it written that it's actually a kind of silencer - to stop the PCV on that side making a tapping noise (that sounds very much like lifter tap, apparently).

Not entirely convinced of that personally, but it's definitely a flow restrictor of some kind - and it's meant to be in there ;)
