light panel on dash and oil gauge

im probably gunna sound really stoopid for askin this but im not very mechanicaly minded at all. on the dash the red warning light that says 'lights' keeps coming on then goes away on its own wot does it mean?!!

also the oil gauge, where shud it read ideally mines on round 2 most of the time so shud i get an oil change?

soz if this sounds relly thick but i wanna look after my z and these ave bin miffin me out!!!!! :confused:

youre gonna love this mate but it means your brake lights are functioning. they should only come on when you brake tho so if they come on on their own perhaps there's a faulty connection somewhere. one of the experts should guide you if thats the case.

also the oil gauge, do you mean the oil pressure gauge inside the rev counter?

this changes between when youre idling and when youre caning it. another thread on here will tell you more info, but i think as long as its between say 0.5 and 2 then your ok.

The red "lights " warning device operates as a bulb monitor for both the brake lights and rear side lights, you may well just have a bulb out, or if it is an import and a rear fog light conversion has been done utilising the inner barke lights this will cause the same warning.
