I would guess that at some time in the past, msut have been in Japan as I'm the first UK owner, that my entire engine compartment has been spayed with some sort of laquer or varnish. Now of course it looks disgusting with flakes and chips al over the place.

Does anyone else with a Jap Import suffer the same problem ? And has anyone got any smart ideas for removing this crap ?

Blasting it with an airline sometimes removes it on bits of flexible rubber, but it's over paint, wiring, plastic, engine etc etc
