My mech is runnin' out of idea's can anyone help?

He's trying to find why my j90'tt is missing at one of the cillinders(2 i think) he's checked all connections at the coil packs and tried swapping them over, he's continuity checked the wiring back to the ptu and checked the ptu connections. He tells me he's not gettin' any signal to spark at the coil pack and he does'nt think the spark plug looks wet when he pulls it out.

He's checked all the various connections everywhere inc back the ptu, do you think the ptu may have broken down on that one signal?, does that happen?

Someones advised him it could be the ecu, i think he may have that in pieces now, is he lookin' in the right direction?

Any ideas or advice would be gratefully welcome.

Hi,

I had this after changing my plenum for a polished one, it was a bad connection on an injector, cleaned it up and all was ok again.

Worth a look.

Thanks chaps, my mech say's he's checked all the connections on the injector's aswell. It does'nt sound like it's a ecu problem then? He recons he knows someone with a spare ptu, i'll get him to try that out and see what happens....i'll be intouch.

tony, get him to do a continuity check from the input of the ptu back to the ecu, have seen broken cables here many times, it is quicker and easier to rewire a new cable in rather than search for the fault, however if there is good continuity then a single output failure from the ptu is most likely the cause.

Good luck

Has he actually checked the coil packs themselves. I had two go on me and it was running on 4 till I changed them over. The car went a lot better afterwards too !!!

Just a thought.

Olly.

if you look in the manual, there are continuity checks you can do on the PTU itself :)
