NZR - Tell B.T. that you use the web!

Just to let you know...when I moved house recently, they asked me if I access the Internet...strangely enough I'm now logging on at 36000bps, before I would only connect at 26400! LARGE!

Seems to be faster, for no extra charge!

All BT do is 'condition' the line. One of the tricks is to blast a high frequency down the line. This has the effect of 'cleaning' the contacts in the physical switches and the joins in the bits of knotted string that they use. Less common these days because most exchanges are digital. However, there can still be bad connections casuing noise on the link between the exchange and the green box at the end of the road and the green box and your house. Roll on vDSL is all I can say. Then hopefully I'll have a shot at getting some decent bandwidth. At the moment I'm on the very edge of ISDN range and it shows sometimes !

Have your gain turned up timmy, 36000 bhps is not a good connection on a 56 k modem, minimum should be from my experience about 46000, im now on about 50000bps... until adsl is installed biggrin.gif
