This may seen like a stupid question but I have I new UK Double Din CD Radio Cassette that I was going to put in my Z. But now I have the car it only appears to take two single units. Is that correct or can it be modified?

Featured Replies

Yes, stock is two separate units.

But I think if you are pretty handy with some cutting tools, plastic padding and spray paint you could adapt the pannel trim.

However in the stock set up the lower unit sits closer to the driver (ie about 1-2cms toward the back of the car) than the top unit, owing to the slope of the dash.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

IIRC, just pop the plastic trim off, then unscrew the two side and two bottom screws and pull the double din unit out.

You can unscrew the plastic tray on the bottom and the normal cage at the top, then just screw the two side bits back onto the cage of your double din, it should work fine, but the only prob is that the plastic bar in the centre that seperates the two seperate jap units may get in the way of some of the stuff on you single double din size unit.
