Ok, im at the end of my tether! lol

As some of you know, fitted a new motor 2 days before billing, all was running sweet as a nut.

Anyhow, while at billing, i saw some bluer silicone vaccum hosing nice and cheap, and as some of what was on already had seen better days, i decided to replace the lot..this is where the fun starts.

On the way back from billing, tickover was skyhigh, like 1500+, yet on the way down to billing it was a steady 800ish...also, on the way TO billing, boost was set at 18psi, but on the way back i was struggling to reach 16 :( further symptoms, smells is sometimes rich, then at other times its that metally smell that you can also taste!! (yuk gets right to the back of your throat)

and finally, it misses, badly above 6000rpm if boosting 10psi+, if at this point i change gear and floor it, it splutters and hesitates for a moment then picks back up.

So now I'll tell you what I have tried to fix it.....i checked all the connections on the vac hoses I replaced to make sure there wasnt one flapping about, and sucking/leaking air causing the high ticker, and they are all on great....

Messed with Idle control for hours, no joy, if I disconnect it I can get a good tickover using the screw, if I drive it disconnected its constantly cutting out (which figures). As soon as I plug the nice yellow plug into it, idle revs double!

Checked connections, water temp sensor, etc etc etc

Finally....

So ive come to the conclusion (unless soneone else has a better one), that I MUST have plumbed up some hoses wrong...the only ones I can think off are the nice little cluster over by the brakeservo that connect to the little solenoids.

Problem is my great service book, has a nice fat OIL SMUDGE! exactly where these are on the diagram for the hoses, and the scanned one on the web are useless, so im wondering if someone could trace these pipes for me and tell me where they go...im 90% sure mine are on right... but then theres that damn 10%.

Thanks

Dan

Remember if you have any other suggestion what the heck it is, it was all fine BEFORE i put these new blue silicone hoses on, which is why im assuming ive done some dumb plumbing.

You can remove most of that stuff if you want. The solenoids are used to pull in the AIV's and EGR valve. Doesn't half neaten things up if you junk it all.

If you want to keep it I'd suggest looking at someone elses car and copying it, pretty hard to read the diagrams in the manual anyway.

ok sounds good, anything specific i have to do, or just cap off all the lines?

If you remove them all, cap the ones from the throttle body and from the turbo inlet pipe.

Connect the one from the balance bar directly to the boost sensor

Leave the ones to the AIV's and EGR open or cap them, up to you, makes no difference.

great stuff, cheers, less hoses, less to go wrong :)

did it ever get through oil when it was in your Z? Getting through about 1.5 litres a week with it, but theres no blue out back, and I cant find a leak anywhere either.
