Hi all :)

I'm interested in a Z, it all sounds good, just a few questions I've got.

1) It has a Paul Bailey rear spoiler on it - personally, not my flavour, and ideally I want to be spoilerless. Am I able to swap tailgates with another Z? or has anyone removed a spoiler successfully without damaging it to re-use?

2) How easy is it to remove the front bumper and to attach a new one. I've done this on several (smaller) cars, the replacement bumper is a 99 spec one.

3) It's done 70,000 miles, and I read that post about a turbo "expectedly" failing at this mileage - is this normal then? and should I really be budgeting for new turbos as a matter of course?

I reeeeally want to be a z owner, but even with cars going for as little as 2500, i've found it very hard to actually find a car I like!

Esay peasy front bumper, rear spoiler a little more difficult, there are write ups on TT.net, what paul bailey spoiler is it I might be interested?

Hi5,

You know what to do ;)......................... Yes buy mine. 99 spec front bumper, spoilerless rear boot, well maintained engine, ie, no turbo worries. :)

Whats the problem???????

PS. Did you get the email I sent you.

Cheers,

Dean.

Topless - not sure on the model, but its high, i.e. matches the line of the roof. Too wild for me!

pete - whats a good way to tell though, should it be noted on the service history?

Deano - i did get your email, but you didnt give any sort of times about getting it sorted so... :) I want one sooner rather than later, money is burning a hole!

1) You can get replacement standard looking rear spoilers from http://www.zcentre.co.uk or http://www.mjpauto.com (and they don't get waterlogged like the OEM ones). And, IIRC, they do skins to cover up where spoilers were to get the Deano spoilerless look.

2) Easy peasy - at least it was when Deano did it and flogged me his old 90 spec front bumper :p

3) My turbos have done 100,000m and have just started to give the first symptoms of being on the way out (blue smoke after idling). Lymon saw them at Billing and said they should be good for years as long as not abused. There isn't a specific thing in the service record for them but I guess if the rest of the car has been looked after that is a sign of a "caring" owner.

Good luck - Gio

Hi Gio, thanks for the reply.

I'm aware of the skins, what im bothered about is either removing the spoiler safely, or swapping the tailgat :)

its good the bumper is easy to swap :)

I guess i'll have to play it by ear on the turbos then, i'll look for smoke, and have a look at the guages :)

thanks

hi guys n galls my names bart n got ah ztt i've got a near side turbo smoking can i replace with engine in suitu

cheers

oh bugger, I was hoping turbos could be done without removing the lump, engine out is too big a job for me to contemplate, was hoping to upgrade my turbos myself.... more money to the garage I suppose....

Quicker to take the engine out, replace tubby`s and back in again, than doing 1 in situ.

Plus when its out, you can do a few wee extra bits that are awkward when its in situ !! Various hoses, pipes, cam belt? etc. ;)

cheers z fans , god, engine out seems to big ah job mabye mickey b could use the force

I have my engine ready to fit this Sunday if you want to take a look ???

Aint as bad as it sounds, honest !! :p
