my autos lost 3rd n overdrive unless u boot it right through the rev range!! also the power steering gets very stiff somtimes is this due to a fault on the speed sensor???

i dont suppose the speed sensor runs off the same fuse as the ciggeret lighter as it packed up at the same time as the gearbox???

Erm Jap or UK? If its jap could well be a knackered speed convertor. If not then in both cases it could well be the speed sensor. Seen this before where a bad signal stopped the auto box from moving out of second...

Ok check the speed convertor first. Should be under the dash hood - 2 screws from underneath at the front. Remove it, find the box, then find the wire to the speedo that has been chopped and the convertor inserted, remove convertor and rejoin speedo wire....

i dont suppose u have a link to show what it looks like???? whats the dash hood???what colour is the box or do they vary??

Don't have any pics unfortunately :( I'll have a fish around for you though. The dash hood is the cover over the top of the guage cluster ;) The boxes are usually black in colour but it could be any. It will be quite obvious its not OEM though if you know what I mean ;)
