Ok so on the way to billing my motor was running fine, had a nice run in with a carrera on the way to meet greg and fried him :D

 

Half way there my Z started playing up, smoking on rundown after high boost and also went into safety boost and started detting :S

 

On the way back though the car was running mint? No smoke, no safety boost, no noises no nothing, just went really well.

 

Went for a quick drive around town earlier, opened her up, let off large pop out the zorst and now the car sounds like a scoobie !!!! :confused:

 

Would I be right in saying cylinder probs? Sropped and started her a few times, no diff, still sounds the same :cry:

 

So I was gearing up to buy some new tubbies and IC's, now it looks like I might need a rebuild>????? :cry: :cry:

 

My poor car, one thing after another at the mo, but pissed off now.

 

Any advice ideas?

 

Also any good garages that could take on said work and do a good job for a good price?

CJ, I'll have a check over her tomorrow, see if anything obvious is a miss, but its not looking good, especially with the oil probs etc.

 

I've replaced PCV's and checked all the breather system / crank case breather and all hoses I could possibly find to so with breather system and they are all mint. So no oil from there, oil press seems fine too, so no blockages.

 

It seems to smoke only after high boost, but now it sounds like i've got cylinder probs too :(

 

If my seals are gone (more than likely, been running 16psi on stock tubbies for a year now, also complete decat straight through zorst from manifold to back) then its engine out time anyways, and if piston probs, its engine apart time. So I guess no time like the present to get it rebuilt.

 

And I was going to start saving for a new house too :( but I can't leave the Z like this.

Well I fried one on the way to meet you, and then you had a run in with one as I remember seeing you go flying by, I went to have some fun too but put me foot down and nothing happened :(

 

Guess 5psi at 120 doesnt do much lol.

Actually just thought, gary ran a consult on my car last night didnt he?

 

The left 02 sensor was playing up at first but then seemed to sort itself out, im gonna replace them anyway when im doing everything else.

 

When he checked the cylinders, cyclinder one came up as not being efficient but all others were fine, we ran the check again though and it came out fine the second time, perhaps its an intermitent prob thats now a permenant one that I hadnt noticed before???

 

Oh the speculation, hate it when things like this happen is it this is it that, it could be this that leads to that lol, ffs

How come i get the blame for the long route? I drove round northampton for 20 mins extra as Greg pointed me in the wrong direction lol

Steve-O will u be able to give me a hand sometime fitting my boost guage and some boost jets? I know with my amazing DIY skills i'll end up causing more damage than good lol.

Right then, I can turn my hand to lots of stuff, but replacing the tubbies etc is a bit out of my league, I havn't got the tools or the time.

 

Who would you guys recomend that KNOW what they are actually doing with a Z instead of guessing?

Hmmm, I heard mixed things about them, some bad some good. I really want to go somewhere where its all good ;)

Sussed it, it was a dodgy connection on one of the coil packs, stroke of luck the first thing I looked at today. It was raised up by about 1cm another was slightly raised also. Don't know if this was causing part of the problem on the way to billing, car sounded smooth but i could have been close to loosing the connection, so the spark could have been intermitent, checked the PTU, CAS and TPS just as a precaution to and they are all fine.

 

Now running smooth again and took it out for a spin, no signs of the phantom smoke but gonna get tubbies done all the same :D

mrodgers yes we were all doing 120kph until we changed to 3rd gear and went past 190 lol :rofl:

glad to hear the bit of good luck on your car steve-o. wish my car ran like yours, but im sure i would need a divorce first lol
