ive just done a diagnostic test on my auto.....the first flash is longer than the other 10.....does this mean the revoloution senser is shorted or disconnected???

what is the revoloution senser??

where is it????

symptoms are very late chaging into 3rd gear or not changing into 3rd gear but pulling in some gear at high revs after missing through the rev range untill it redlines, theres no mechanical noise or vibration from the box.

the box was rebuilt 10,000 ks aga at the cost of £1500.

please help even with the sarky answers the will cheer me up in my hour of gloom thanks fellas

Sorry, i have no idea!

If it is a sensor, chances are that its just a dirty

connection, as to the whereabouts of the sensor, i don't know!

The sensor is on the side of the gearbox.

You might be able to remove it and clean it but usually they go faulty.

Not huge money to replace.

Don't go for the speed sensor first! Try finding the speedo convertor box and bridge it out - 9/10 times thats the cause of the problem ;)

Presume you meant than the other 9? You have a long flash followed by the 10 judgement flashes. The long flash signals the start of the sequence.

Trust you checked the fluid level properly? Otherwise I would go with what andyduff says as an import could have a km/mph converter fitted.
