When I was at Thor a flash guy in a 3000GT pulled up. I heard him (claiming) he had spent £40 thousand on the car- new engine from America blah blah blah. Sorry, but the engine would have had to be nice, the paintwork was cack. It just confirmed how much i HATE those cars. They had three Mark IV Supras lying around (not working :D) and they are really horrible too, especially inside. Big round bubble cars like an overgrown Micra (!!)

Why is it Supras always elicite the :xxx: response from people but a 300 never does?

:D

Of course mine was the most tasteful there ;)

My welding tips cost nothing, neither did my chip, they were both free, running 16 psi so that would probably beat the gromit mod on the GTO hands down lol.

But anyways, I never mentioned performance, I was on about looks.

The chips arnt usually free though are they!!!!tongue.gif

and anyway I was responding to someone elses mail who DID go on about performance! lol

NOW BE HONEST.... from your points of view what is it about your Zeds that you DONT like or you'd rather was different... (other than the universal ones of repair and running costs, mpg etc...) The biggest thing I miss about the GTO is the lack of my T-BARS!!! PLUS I loves the front lights on the ZX whereas my pop-ups are a little old hat these days. (although the newer ones have changed)

I remember when they first came out, and everyone at my school wanted one. Played Chase HQ at the bowling alley dreaming of owning one...

Ahhhh the good ol' days, eh?

Said it before mate, dont like the backend, standard spoiler (spits) lol, and the lights look a bit dated (glad I got twin ones :D). The crapy flake effect they seem to loved putting on everything, must have been fasion at the time, the interior is like it and the bottom of the outside. I heard that it was so you couldnt see stone chips, I think thats *****cks, it looks crap.

Another couple of things, grey plastic strip in the middle of the bumper? I mean WTF? one of the first things to go one mine, and the grey plastic lights? one does wonder.

Other than that at least the standard wheels were a good effort i think, and I love the rest of the car! (other than the fact they built the bloody thing round the engine and a 5min job usualy takes hours!!!!)

I remember Cisco heat, funny that the Z was better cornering and the old yank wagon was twice as quick as the Z lmao

LOL!! mine was free as well IIRC!! (cheers you-know-who!! :D)

Ok then if you think that lets look at this....

Standard Mitsubishi GTO is gonna be side by side pretty much to 100 (Ive had both!) and if there is any difference in tenths of a second ect then you wont notice it to look at on the road.

Sorry mate, I was referring to cars in stock form from my own experience. The GTO does suffer in midrange performance and does not have as quick in gear performance as a ZX.

This was also proven in UK based road tests by What Car and Evo mag. From WC mag Oct '93...

0-60....ZX=5.6 / GT=5.8 - close

0-100...ZX=14.5 / GT=16.1 - falling behind

Same figures also achieved in other road tests too

Summing up the GT "......letting it down are disappointing mid-range performance owing to the worst turbo lag......"

Something I could relate to after driving a few when looking to replace my Mk3 Supra Turbo, which had excellent mid-range response. Other than that I did like the GT.

That was with UK spec cars though, I don't know how J-spec GTOs differ from the 3000GT, performance wise

Fair point about the modification though, just I'm not into modding really.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Mitsubishi 3000 GT 2000 BHP = 320 0-60 = 5.0 1/4 = 13.4 term = 102...... figures taken from "QUATERMILE RIVALS"

These figures have been matched at tsc4 and santa pod at 0.6 bar boost....

1.what boost would you need to run these times at pod?

2.whats the best 1/4 anyone from these boards have run?

Mark Beales has run 12.3s in his GTO tt and there should hopefully be some in the 11s this year.....
