I am ever increasingly thinking about breaking the Z totally but dont have a garage. Has anyone here ever broken a Z on their Driveway and just kept it under a cover?

If so, how did you dispose of the shell and how much did it cost?

I broke mine at 70mph on an A road :D

Who was it on here told me they cut up the shell with a grinder and put it in a skip?! :slap:

Why are you thinking of breaking it?

I thought it was really nice Z last time I saw you blast past with BOV's a whooshin'!

Cos have a word with Jock :p

it is a nice Z Chris but at the mo I need the money. I am currently downgrading the upgraded parts but as it has 140k miles on the clock, it doesn't seem to be moving so I am going to try and shift it for cheap first, and if that fails, it's being broken.

Cheers Carpfisher.

yes mate, I broke mine on the driveway (mrs jock loved all that :)) I phoned round and got a guy with a flatbed transit, he picked it up for nothing, if you leave the wheels etc on it, you can get it removed by the local council (or the local toerags if you live in london :))

Carpfisher, I still have some bits for you mate, but have lost your number.

I am planning to brake my MG on the drive, well strip it, if the chassis can't be welded then i am going to cut it up and put it in a skip :)

That'll be me, cutting up my mates renault 19 16v after he lost it trying to stay with the Zed.

It looked like a banana after he'd finished with it, so we took out the engine & interior, then cut it up. Dumped it in a skip in little, iddy biddy pieces.

:p

ouch - if it comes to this, i will make sure I photograph it all. Just for shot value.

I know that mate. Try telling prospective buyers.

4k with standard rims.

My father in law once bought two MG midgets to make one good'un, he cut the shell of the duff one up when he'd finished, with an angle grinder, and took it to the tip in the back of a Mondeo Estate

Has anyone here ever broken a Z on their driveway

Nice if you can get away with it. I only parked my old knacked Rover 800 infront of my drive, on the road, and some scrote contacted the authorities and told them I had an un-taxed car on the road. I had the last laugh though, althoug it wasnt taxed, the road was under a section 38 order :D (not yet adopted)

I'm halfway through doing that...

Erm... good question. Haven't thought about that yet. :D

I was planning to leave the wheels and a minimum amount of suspension on until the last minute and then trailer it somewhere. (That's cos I had stock wheels - obviously if I had alloys I'd want to sell them seperately. Guess if you have alloys you could get some stockers from eBay for the sake of 50 quid...)

Wot suspension bits can I take off and still be able to roll it around - anything?

Also consider your shed / lock-up may be uphill from your driveway which is entertaining when moving the gearbox, especially if you forget to ask Fuserleer to give you a hand before he goes...

I broke my Z on teh driveway last Sunday.

how pissed can you get without drinking

Hi

Why go to the trouble & expense of cutting it up and a skip?

Take off what you want and one of the local yards will pick up for nothing or may even pay something unless you live a 100 miles from civilisation!!

Steel prices up by 30% apparently so Scrap price shot up- China etc sucking in like a black hole- so scrap cars at last worth something!

Regards,

Dave

I broke a v6 ford probe on my drive, did it with a mate, and it took fooking ages, 1 week, and left quite a bit including the lump, could of got much more out of it given the time...

Round here you can just call up a company to pick it up for free, so thats what i did :)
