really? just wonderd as i'm getting a surge in power and just wanted to check the o2's by disconecting them one at a time and seeing if it goes. but dont want to risk damage to the engine

you can test the o2 sensors by putting the ECU into diagnostic mode 2

IIRC the car will run v rough up to 3,000rpm, then after that the O2s arent used.

Pete your car ran ok with one dead 02 sensor , most cars i see have at least one dead or lazy 02 sensor , the cars do not run perfect but there not that bad either

As discussed on MSN I think it's MAF related - if it was O2 it would do it cruising, not under load.

If you disconnect the O2s the ECU will simply use the base maps. If your chip is spot on, then the car will run perfick, if not, then guess what :)

It will still apply corrections learned from the bad O2 sensor to the maps though, so best to reset the ECU as well.
