Had the Z running for a while last night and I was getting a lot of smoke out of the exhaust.

Grey smoke that initially was from both pipes but settled down to just the passenger side. Revving the car made it worse.

It was like this for a good 20mins until I decided to go get some Optimax as what's in the tank was over a year old.

When I filled it up and started it again the smoke soon disappeared.

Any ideas what it might be?

old petrol?

Old petrol I'd guess, exactly the same symptons on two cars i've left stand for a year and then start.

Would it cause smoke though?

The car didn't smoke when I first started it up on sunday but we only ran it for a couple of minutes at a time while we checked things over.

Last night is the first time it's been running for more than 5 minutes but it smoked straight away.

Also it settled down to just the passenger side after a while.

I'd have thought it would do it from both if it was the fuel?

Dont quote me on this but i was told that petrol has a shelf life of about 1 month.

So dont leave ya Z standing for too long.

Optimax is only optimax for a very short period of time. After ~1 week optimax will be the equivalent of around 95 RON.... If you don't drive your Z often then don't leave much fuel in it between drives...

When it first started smoking I I wasn't too worried but when it moved over to one bank only I started to think I've got a duff turbo or something

It seemed to clear up after half an hour with the Optimax so I'll see what happens when I next start it
