I seem to remember that on a manual car the traction control has a switch on the clutch for launch control?

How does it connect to the TC box?

I seem to have lost the instructions and any cable it came with as the TC was fitted to my Z when it was an auto.

Its an add on which you have to buy. If you got it with the group buy, I dont think any one got it.

Its so you can keep the accerlerator to the floor while changing grear. It drops the revs to a preset level so the turbos dont spool down.

It mustn't do your clutch any good though. Ouch!

I'm sure there's a diagram in the instruction manual (which I don't have with me). Pretty certain you don't need to buy their switch/cable to make it work though.

You probably done. If you look at the wiring loom on the one people got, not all the pins are used. The feature is enabled just dont have the wireing for it.,

The Launch control has nothing to do with the clutch so you shouldn't need to worry about that.

Stuart, I think that's the full throttle shift option you are talking about.

I know my TC does have Launch Control which allows a preset rev limiter before you lift the clutch on take off.

I think it goes to a switch on the pedal but I don't know how to connect it.

This feature never really worked on an auto but it was possible to bodge it.

I got my TC from GPS in a GB about 2.5 years ago.

It isnt for that mate. Its so you can keep the accelerator planted when changing gear. When the TC detects the clutch moving in, with the switch, it activates a rev limiter and drops the revs to say 5000rpm, or what ever you set it as.

I presume he wants to activate that

Hhhhhmmmmm maybe i'm wrong but I was sure it connected to the clutch on a manual.

Don't any of you manual boys have it connected like that for launching?

Just had a gander at their web page and it suggests that a clutch switch is only required for the full throttle gear shift, not the launch control. Thinking back when I installed it on an MR2 turbo we didn't use a clutch switch and the launch control definitely works !

Cooool. Less work than I thought then!

Makes a change on a Z. :hyper:

Clutch switch aint needed for launch control ;) You press the button and the limiter activates until it senses the wheels turning ;)

Clutch switch is for full throttle shifting - this feature IS built into the unit BUT you need to add an extra wire to the main connector to wire to the clutch switch...

Duff is right. :)

i've done it and it works. :)

Jezz, wanna do an FAQ m8? ;):D

So I can have full throttle shift too? :D

I'm sure my clutch will love that :mac1:

Well I've got 2 spare switches on the clutch at the mo so may just need a wire soldering in :D

Half arsed attempt from when i did it...

A pin from a 300zx loom will also work as it has the same connector AFAIK.

You need to use your laptop to do some poking around with the RLTC settings too to activate it and say what the hard and soft cut points are.

No mate you dont need the Clutch swith for launch.

Launch control is more than just a rev limiter to spool up the turbos. It also constently adjusts the slip percentage as you accelerate.

Yes there is a rev limit so you can plant the accelerator to the floor and it will bounce off 5000rpm or whatever you set it at, but once the car reaches a certain speed (12mph standard I think) the revlimit is removed. On the adjustable traction you can pick what % slippage you want. Wet is 0% so as soon as there is a slight difference in front and rear wheel speeds, it cuts in, Dry is 5%, then you have 10% 15% and 20%. For launches I find 10% is better as anything below the TC cuts in when its not really needed. A little wheel spin is benificial when pulling off. You always want your rear wheels spinning a little faster than what you are going, F1 cars have traction control way in advanced to what we have, and every single F1 car leave skid marks when pulling off, because controlled wheelspin is better.

The launch automatically changes the amount of slip as you pull off. So when you start to pull off it will be at one level of slip and then change as you accelerate, to get the best possible grip.

Well, where's the fun in that? :D
