Hello,

I tried to fit my new 3G discs tonight but cannot get the caliper off. I tried undoing the 2 big bolts at the rear as this is what i think is holding the caliper on, but the buggers wont budge, am i doing the rights bolts or should i be trying others.

Thanks all for your great help as ever.

Worse case mate take it to kwik git, they will loosen the bolts for you with a air gun, then you can get them to retighten them and drive home and DIY.....:)

They then should be loose enough for ya!!

wd-40 the night before ,breaker bar and stand on it works a treat just make sure your turning the 2 bolts the right way like i dident to start with!doh

You've taken the pads out first right Ant ?

If you are still stuck tomorrow pop her round about 18:30ish.

Thank guys for all your help i'll give it another go tonight before i have to take it to Stuarts and bother him ;)

WD-40 won't really work that well. If you ever buy new bolts you will see they are pre thread-locked and this is what is holding them in ;) Just good old fashioned leverage will do it. You can use a ring spanner (ring one end, open ended the other), put the ring end on the bolt, then use a 1/2" drive extension on the other end - insert one half of the "C" into the extension. Hope that makes enough sense? If you try it you'll see. This can come in VERY handy sometimes ;)

strong ringspanner and then hammer it until it breaks loose.

the problem with extensions is that you don't have much room in that area to get a good grip and actually move the spanner.

Thanks to Stuart for letting me use his tools and drive, thanks mate.

Thanks to all others for advice and Splatt your offer to assist.

I thought it was about the rear calipers and turning the steering doesn't seem to do much at the rear ;)

LOL then its time to plug the conZult in and go for a simulated drive in hicas mode ;):D

PS No I'm not serious :D

Thanks to Stuart for letting me use his tools and drive, thanks mate.

No probs mate. As long as you don't mention what I was doing while you were playing with my tools !! :nelson:
