Went to look at a Z today....import 65k P reg LWB...8k. Is this too much for one?????

Featured Replies

clarkey you spaz it says import in the description. ;)

That sounds way too much if you ask me, i'll let you have my k reg one for half that price. That one may be twice the price but is it twice as good? I doubt it.

Be careful. Many people put the reg of the car as the year the car was imported and not the year the car was made.

Many times I have seen cars on autotrader advertised as a 1998 300ZX but was infact a 1990 but imported in 1998

damned emoticons, i cant even edit my own posts now my subscription got cut off, damn slow bank i need to pay damnit!

not sure how they do that m8?

having registered a "few" imports, you have to have the original japanese

year of registration document (and translation) the car is then assigned

the matching year plate to this country, its even a nightmare to get a personal plate, it's easier to get it registered THEN re reg on a private plate

but having said that did they make a zx in japan that would be a p reg????

Yes. The last 300ZX was made in 2000 so you can get 1998.

Look on autotrader at 300ZXs. A lot will be shown as 1998 / 1997 300ZX. Legally its not 1998, but they do it to catch people's attention.

I've seen 2000 and 2001 in there as well, in fact there is a 2001 in this week.

Also see that brown convertable is still for sale :D

True, but a few unscrupulous dealers were known to get imported cars registered with later year/reg numbers to make the car look newer.

This was more the case when grey imports were not as common as now. I've seen many early spec Mk2 MR2s (ie g/h reg cars) running K/L reg numbers. This would not be a mistake or late registration in Japan either as the Japanese market always got the newer spec cars before us......

Although it is more difficult now, fortunately.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

yep i would advise anyone buying a freshly imported car to

ask for the japanese de-registration document (and the translation)

as they are quite easy to dechiper, a m8 actually altered his by 7 months to avoid the sva, but they sussed it, and told him to register again with the sva

docs'

we did warn him he risked getting done for fraud, for the sake of £160

and to make his car 7 months OLDER, but i'm sure there are a LOT of places who will TRY and do it the opposite way

BUYER BEWARE and as kim34 has sensibly done ask advice first;)

Thanks for all the replies guys.....I have looked at another one today.....on a Kreg..UK spec...was a bit of a nail tho and 5k with 102k on the clock.
