Hi people. I have rebuilt my engine with new turbos but I decided to go for stage one upgrades as it was only a little more, but now I have a flat spot on stopping and when I blip the throttle. The revs will drop to about 500rpm and then return to normal. Sometimes they will drop low enough to stall the engine.

Is this normal and would an ecu upgrade cure it or is it coincidence and something else has broken. Thanks for any input.

Hi

Who carried out your engine and turbo rebuild and what spec is your stage one upgrade?

Your hesitation could be either of the following:

1. Throttle bodies not synchronised

2. TPS switch out of adjustment

3.

Oops! Damn thing posted itseld!

3.

ok, lets have another go at this.

3. Your AAC valve could be playing up.

If your running boost at 14psi or more then an ecu upgrade is advisable. The popular choice is the JWT upgrade but there are others like...... actually, just go with JWT.

I'm certain that your hesitation is not a problem caused by the ecu!

P.S Craig, see what I mean about my last comments ;-)

mine used to do this, I solved it by cleaning the connectors on the throttle position sensor. Afterwards it was fine.

Hope this helps

Check the PCV valves if adjusting/cleaning the TPS doesn't fix it. Especially if the idle drops when stopping.

I have also heard of a problem on a car in america to do woth the air inlet on the front of the car. There should be a cover on the bottom apparently if this is damaged it can cause disturbances with the Mass airflow metering, the car in question would stall when coming to a reasonably abrupt halt. the problem reportedly went away when the base cover was fixed / repaired.

Not sure if this is any use, anyone else heard of this.

The problem Nexus refers to, can only happen if you have a POP-charger (replacement cone K&N air-filter)

It sometimes could cause the engine to stall when shifting/braking at high speeds.

Just stick some tape to the bottom of the cone-filter and that should fix it.
