Dont quote me but I remember hearing that manual ecu in an auto is ok, but auto in a manual isnt.

Or is it the other way round?

Sorry bud thats no use :D

I heard the other way round.

An auto is OK in a manual, but a manual wont work in an auto. Probably to do with the fact an auto ECU will have information about the autobox control there, while a manual wont need it. But if you put an auto ECU in a manual it just ignores it.

Auto ECU works in a manual chassis. (As in my ex-car.)

Manual ECU does not work in an auto chassis.

Correct and FACT!;)

Certainly is auto has extra circuitry to interface with the slushbox ECU.

John should I beleive that after reading your sig:D;)

Certainly is auto has extra circuitry to interface with the slushbox ECU.

Is it that extra circuitry that slows it all down then? :D

Does the ECU actually have different circuitry though?

I've looked at a few and can't really see any difference.

I would have thought it was just the ROM that's different.

Has anyone tried a manual ECU with Auto ROM in an Auto Z?!

So, to add to the auto v manual debate, it would appear from this that an auto ecu is significantly better than a manual ecu as it will work in any car! :hyper: :D

IN which case would mines supply an auto ecu so it can be fitted into any car rather than a manual which couldnt ???

how can i check this?

Regards,

alex

You can usually tell by the big sticker that Nissan put on them but Mines may have removed it.

There are 3 or 4 types with 21, 22, 23 etc on them but I'm not sure which way round they are LOL

There's also a proper Nissan part number so this may be listed on the parts CD?

I've been meaning to investigate this for a while now.

I think that the ones with 22 on them are all manual ones but I'll check with the couple I have at home tonight.

Is it from UK or Import?

bump again

I'm pretty convinced 22 is manwell and 23 is an auto (and that matches my history of ECU ownership...)
