I've recently just bought my zed...but I vey nearly didn't. Mostly because the pages of this club website are full of people bemoaning their 300 zeds. Go and have a look at how many of the threads are about broken things and oil on the road and poverty and divorces and expired PTU's and transmission fluid on the floor. No wonder zeds are cheap. You have to have huge cajones to buy one of these things after reading you waffle you lot write.

How about some positive things. I wonder if you guys actually enjoy breaking down! It gives you something to fix that weekend.

But, if you want to raise the image of the 300zx, quit bitchin'. Anyone, with any sense will check this website before they buy a 300 ZX. I wonder how many people we're putting off. If we all try to make the thing a bit more of a hoot, maybe, just maybe the prices will go back up a bit. Imports have a crap rep anyway...but we are not helping

Bwahahah what a load of shit, you really expect people to start posting when everything's running fine, course the forum is gonna be full of posts about people having problems what else do you expect?

Chris,

That's probably most 'useless' post I've ever read on here..........

We use this forum for fun, jokes, banter, problem solving, sharing problems (to help others find solutions) help each other out, buy stuff, send stuff, ask questions, read others idea's, see others Z's, show our own Z's..........

.....you need to read more threads mate, what is on this board is exactly what goes on in the world of a Z owner......

....what was you expecting a 14 year old car that is fault free, no problems to be had, perfect running, no upgrades, no fun, no joy, no sorrow, no hardship....

......Next time you ask for advice I'll remember not to answer.....

......as you don't need the help, it's all fine in the world of Chris and Z's.....

Ooooo look I see a forum of nothing but happy things, fluff and perfect cars....

Why again did you subscribe? Have you not seen the other forums (since joining) full of jokes etc??? I'm guessing not, scroll down, we have a laugh and joke too! :D

Matty.

Regrads,

Chris - if you buy a well maintained ZX - they are reliable and well built. Also it depends how they're driven and maintained.

Geoff.

I use mine everyday too and it's had no problems.

It is also the n/a (more reliable, lighter, certainly the connnosieur's choice model).

I was going to buy an Accord Type R. I hope the Z will be as reliable.

Chris, have you actually seen any other performance car forum sites???? Well i'm a member of at least 5 sites (and I'm quite sure that a lot of others also are, that on here) and this sort of thing goes on all over the place.

Lets take one of your examples, the PTU, if it wasnt for people 'Bitching' about it, then I probably wouldn't have found my fault quite so easily. My Zed is 12 years old, and I don't expect it to be totally trouble free in any shape or form for ever. But reading someone post on here that they are haveing this problem, and then someone else coming back with a possible solution to sort it, is the main reason for why I'm here!!

BTW, nice way to introduce yourself to us, cant wait for the responses to any questions you may put on here --- or shall I say lack of responses!!

"How To Win Friends And Influence People"

There is no need to raise the image of the Zed as far as I can see, it can be a bit daunting at times but I have never owned a car before that turns heads so much, you would normally have to spend so much more money for this compliment alone, hope you dont get a problem you feel the urge to ask about on here you will need these guys help for sure.

We are British we complain about everything.

Our football team got to the quater finals or the Euro cup, not good enough,

British tennis player gets to the quaters of probably the most difficult tennis tournament in the world, not good enough.

Young F1 driver who is the only one close enough to pushing M. Schumacher, not good enough.

Our cricket team enjoying a great period of form, lost a few days ago in a 1 day international, not good enough.

I have had my Z for nearly 4 years now, and only once did it "break down" and I know what it was virtually straight away. Within 10 mins of getting it back home, it was up and running again :D

I bought a crap one, but it still takes me to work and back each week doing about 200 miles- very reliable.

Thanks to this site, I have identified everything that needs doing and in what priority. I work in a place with over 200 cars (mercs, beemas, jags, lotus etc) in the office car park and my zed is the most talked about mota. Some slag it off, but that is just the green eyed monster talking as none of them have the bottle to go out and own one.

Me's wondering why you bought it if you read all about them first?

Me bought mine for the challenge and I knew what I was taking on.

Also I dont want loads of people going out buying zeds. I like the exclusivity of the zed, being able to drive for a month up and down the M4 and never seeing another zed. Nuff said ;)

Oh dear.I seemed to have touched a nerve, but this wasn't entirely my view. I have recently spoken to a work colleague who chose not to buy a Jap Import. (a Supra) because of the bad news on the web sites.

You might not like it but it is the truth. Websites full of bad news are ALWAYS going to taken seriously.

As for the mild threat of not getting any more support from other zed owners on this site....I'm sorry you feel it neccessary to think that way.

My car isn't a fluffy perfect thing..it's an everyday transport to work. 120 miles a day. So far no problems, but , if I do get some hassles, I will come on to this site for help

Chris

Davies

sorry you read that as a threat, personally I meant hope you dont have to ask for help because then you will adding to the problem you are trying to highlight, welcome to the world of the Z32.

I think chris is right, we should make this site "a bit more of a hoot!" (Wot ever that is!!?) ;) :D :D

LMFAO :)

Yeah I love me Zed and have owned countless Toyota's, have had my MR-2 Turbo for a while now...yeah it drives fine but it does have its problems...so don't think that this site is any worse than any other for bitching about broken bits or problems. However, I use this site to socialise online with good people and have made some great friends on here.

Oh and the bitching about broken cars is an absolute necessary, my Power Steering light came on and I lost P/S on my MR2 the other day, most people without access to these sort of BB's would have gone straight to main dealer and handed over large amounts of cash to get a non-result. So I went on IMOC website and found that the P/S relay is a tw@t on MK II MR-2's and they provided a few ways of fixing it or bypassing it...result? Sorted! ;)

Toyota charge 150 squids to run an ECU diag on the MR-2 when you can do it yourself with a paper clip. FFS! ;)

So yes the moaning, bitching etc. is a pre-requisite on all these sort of car forums...I have visited most sites and they're all the same bud.

Viva la bitching! :) May it long continue! :)

Let's be honest, in "Help and Advice" the majority of posts are going to be problem related.. There are a lot of members on here, some of whom only post if they've got troubles. Fair play - that's primarily what the forum is for...

Steve :)

PS. Don't worry Chris - I'll help you! (Please form a line to help him after taking my crap advice though! ;) )

yep thats whats help and advice is for help and advice muff said

LMFAO you :xxx: What was the point in writing a post like that? You're whinging about people whinging, right? Bit of a "do as I say not as I do" situation I think you'll agree. If you don't like it, don't read it. Oh and chill out a bit :D

just read the 'general discussion' forum instead of the 'help & advice' forum if you dont want whinging! ah, thats where this is... :x:

All ageing or modified performance cars are going to be a *****cks to look after. If it's aging AND modified you're knackered from the word go.

I would RATHER people read this and chose not to buy one because it's too much hard work, than to go out and buy one and then get themselves into uncontrollable debt or ruin their relationship.

Yes, there are some Zs on here that do 20000 miles a year with not a sniff of trouble, but there's not many, and it would be unrealistic to expect it - that has to be considered a bonus, not an given.

Buying cars like these is something you have to go into with your eyes wide open, no question!

Many of us have had several Zs - so it's a chuffing good job they're so cheap!

Anyway, there's plenty of threads on "I'm going to do this mod" or "isn't my car great" or "look at the minty photo I just took" or "what a good day out Japfest was" so I'm not sure I even agree with your inital premise...
