Alrite Lads!

Im thinking of ditching the Calibra and getting a 300 zx as they seem quite reasonably priced, look gorgeous and with a 3 litre twin turbo? (is that what they have?) must be quite fast.

However, my question is, whats the spec on the engine- i.e. horsepower, 0-60 and top speed. How tunable are they? and what are the spares prices like?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Performance wise it depends on if its an auto or manual, short or long wheel-base. they are 280bhp stock and o-60 from 5.5 to about 5.9 depending on version.

Very tunable but expensive to run

I had a Calibra before my current Zed - you won't be disappointed! I would never go back. This place is an excellent resource to find out more...

cos ive bought a new car and need driveway space!!

So whats the common things that go wrong on them- and how much are they to fix????

Are they practical as your only car?

Depends on how many miles you drive in a week. Typically, a full tank will give you approx 200 miles (depending on driving style ;) ) so petrol is going to be expensive if you've got a long commute to work... :(

Most of the faults i've encountered are just corroded

electrical connectors, easy to fix, but sometimes hard to find/diagnose!

If you're serious about buying a Z, either buy one through here, or

find someone on here in your area who has a conzult.

Get 'em to come with you :duffer: :duffer: , and check the car

over for you.

Had a non turbo import for a year just to see if i liked them.........i love them, bought a lovely red UK spec twin turbo.......love it even more.......

Only problems i had in two years,PTU on the first car,PVC valves on the second.....

You'll love 'em for the money you won't find a better car!

By the way mines not for sale ;o)

I've had mine for 4yrs in August. It was a low millage U.K. auto. Only mods it had were induction boost and exhaust. I used it as my everyday motor and clocked up an average 33,000 miles a year with no major problems. However I did service her every 4,000 miles. Car has been of road now almost 12 months and its easier to say that the only thing I haven't change is the interior, yet. Then I'm hoping to get another 120,000 out of her before the next rebuild.

I'd also like to add that when I bought my car I looked at about 15 before I got mine. There is some real cr@p out there, but at meets I've been to the quality of this clubs member cars is very high. If you are going to buy get one from here. Have seen Cos's motor and can say it a good one with out fear of contradiction. I'm sure scoops is too.

P.S. what I've spent on my car this year, I could have bought cos's motor 5x's over. It all depends on how far you want to go.

the 1990 turbo is the fastest 0-60 and top end than the rest of them
