Typical speed camera abuse..........

Was driving home about 11:30 sat night down a quiet residential 30mph road.

Hiding behind a couple of parked cars were 2 bobbies with a night-speed camera (as it was dark) !! Luckily I was doing less than 30, so they didn't get or stop me.

But WFT is that if not a money-collector ?! :nono:

coz there are kids to knock over at that time, well there are if its a council estate

wots a night speed camera then?

yuo spaz, it measures t e speed of the night.. ie the dark light!!!! :slap:

I can understand speed enforcement in built up areas especially housing estates which often have cars parked both sides of the road, not saying i like it but it is justifiable IMO, aslong as they dont abuse it to catch drivers just over the limit, but unfort' they do to pay for the exercise.

Motorways , DC's, A roads are where the scammers really take the piss.

Im not takin any more chances, ive just invested in a "Road Angel" it works brill! no false alarmes and it warnes you upto 1km away

how much are road angels ?

Lard dee Fooking Dar.

That sounds like my mother inlaw and she is the only person I have ever wished dead. Whats that saying? ah yep I remember "put a begger on horse back and see it ride".

& 10 out of 10 for tact (even if it is true :slap: ) come on man knock it off.

you have to bear in mind sometimes these guys are doing this in places where people have been killed and you may not know it theres currently the same type of operation going on near me they dont even have a car in sight just a lone plod stood half way out of somebodies driveway with the gun which if you didnt know the history of the road you would swear it was just to make money off us poor motorists.....but less than 4-5 weeks ago some old dear got totaled on this very same stretch by some guy gunning it in his porsche for a few weeks you knew there had been an accident there because of the flowers but not anymore.......

but there's a big difference between 'gunning it' and doing 40 say in a 30. Only person then who'll get knocked down in the stoopid sod who steps out in front of ya car ! and kids shud b in bed/the house at 11:30.

other problem with speed is different cars have different braking abilities - they don't mention that in that stoopid ad on the TV !!

OK, 30 is safer than 40 other things being equal - but 20 is safer than 30 too ! Shud we all walk ?!

It wont warn you about police in a car with a speed camera

But if the police where visable when that Porsche went past, he would have slowed down and the accident would have been averted.

If the police where not visable the Porsche driver would have carried on and still killed some one, but got another £60 fine and 3 points.

So what is better. The police sending your a ticket, or you seeing the police and slowing down?

People now say a speed camera which catches no one, is the most effective camera, because EVERY ONE, was driving at the correct speed.

Did any one see that police program last night with a 14 year old who stole a van and drove down the motorway on the hard shoulder and also drove down the path to get away from the police. He got 2 year suspended sentence.

Steel a car, drive dangerously at high speed down a motorway, speed down the path and clip an number of cars, and you walk away. Drift to 35mph on a road and you get a £60 fine, 3 points which will effect your insurance for half a decade even though the points go after 3 years.

lets talk about religion, these conversations go on and on and on forever, is there a right or wrong?

That time of night on the council estate round my way, the kids are knocking each other over (and up), no need for cars!

About £350/£400 Depends were you buy em. I think they are worth it coz you can lose a clean licence on one stretch of motorway nowadays + think of that insurance premium when you eventually get the Zed back on the road!

True, but i think they can make you too confident as they don't pick up all cameras, have a copper hiding behind a bush with a mobile camera and you wont have a clue.

???? if a bush is big enough to hide a van and a copper, then it's a matter of taking care in areas like that, it's a bit like saying a burglar alarm is useless

if the burglar is dressed as santa and comes down the chimney, where the alarm doesn't cover

no ONE detector covers all, but the road angel is deffo one of the most comprehensive, the new road angel has even got a new bit for schools, then again if your speeding near schools etc, you shouldn't be on the road

re the prices, the new road angel is £350-£400, you can pick the old one up

(does the same but not as compact) for £200-£250

i recently traded me old one in for the new one, and apart from the above, the schools mode and a voice alert there isn't a lot of difference

in fact the subscription options are better on the old version, as you can buy a lifetime one for £99, they've done away with that on the new one:(

is there a right or wrong?

Just a wrong!

I've got the old road angel and it has saved my licence on more then a few occasions. As stated it doesn't pick up moibile camera's but they are usually in town and with the traffic these days (in Essex at least) it's bloody difficult to speed in town (and you shouldn't :slap: ).

this detector picks up every type of camera there is including hand held. it also moniters the back of the car for those sneeky ones they put on the motorway bridges that get you from behind! u plug it into your pc and download the new database every so often so if for some reason it dosnt detect a camera beam the sat nav will let you know the camera is there

It does pick them up, ive had one already! you have to set the sensor perfectly because of the very narrow beam the mobile sends out(usually pointed at your number plate)

Iwas advised by the supplier to buy the old version because the new one looks nice but dosnt cover the rear of the car,(aswell as the higher subscription charge)
