How can I hard wire some thing into the ligher socket

I want to hard wire some thing that usually plugs into the cig lighter. It will be mounted new the radio. But I still want the cig lighter to work so just cutting the cig wire further up will be of no help.

Thanks

Just connect into the live / permanent live feeding the stereo.

make sure whatever u want to wire up doesnt use too much power, else it will blow ur fuses a lot. Our old pajero did that cos it had a rear fog light wired up to the leccy windows and the windows kept dying

Thanks,

Will the using permanent live feed to the radio cause less power to get to the radio or less power to the thing I want to wire in when the radio is on. Or is this wire the small amount of power that goes to the radio to keep the memory settings. If so will this be enough?

Why not pick up off the live on the ignition switch??? This is capable of supplying more than enough power with no detrimental effects smile.gif Only thing is make sure you put an in-line fuse as near to the join as possible - you don't wanna get toasted wink.gif

Another point if its a low power device is the supply for the clock.
