My car is smoking on idle (seems to happen after ive booted it) does this sound like PCV valves and if so how much would a garage bill me for the work?

 

PS. The car has too much oil in it and has only been smoking since i reset the ECU.

LOL!! well if it has too much oil in id correct that 1st!!

 

PCV valves & hoses is about an hour or so. the parts are not that expensive & its worth changing them anyway

i read a post on here and they sounded quite fiddly and hard to do.

Im bound to bodge up just taking out some oil, so the PCV's maybe beyond my skill/brain power.

find the curtecy parts buy. Ive ordered a PCV kit. lot cheaper.

 

Its a 40 minute install. And its one of the more simpler ones. the only thing thats hard is getting old gone hard pipes off. Seeing as you aint keeping them dammaging them to get em off isnt a prob. the new ones go on a treat.

Quick note guys, the pcv valves kits from the US are a slightly different design, the rubber pipes have different sized restrictors in, perhaps a different emmisssion standard.

Jeff, will these kits from the states still do the job? i.e. stop the smoking at idle...

 

Is it an issue come MOT time with regard to emmissions??
