Does anyone else get serious smoke from these after a few hard stops?

Have been tweaking the profec settings so have a long straight (private road ;) ) nearby where I can take it to the top of 4th before braking hard from those kinds of speeds to 30-40 ish. After two stops, the pads are almost on fire and they stink.

Maybe this is normal, but from what I have read on here everybody raves about their performance?

Well I did 6 x 100mph - 0mph stops to bed them in nicely and even afte that they were fooking hot but no smoke. You sure you haven't got something else on your brakes that's burning up ?.

I don't think so - the discs are new (3G bembo blanks, dimpled & grooved) so initially they may have had a sight anti-corrosive substance on them, but I've done about 500 miles this week and took it easy bedding them in, so I'm sure that would be gone by now.

Mild stops are OK, brakes are definately better but i have had new seals as well which has helped.

I was expecting much less fade from high speed than standard discs / greenstuff, but doesn't seem to be the case so far.

Is it ok to bed pads in like that? That would save a lot of pussying around hehe

Well, I wouldn't have though so but I have been told that's the way to do it ;). By a few sources. PR from SE and a friend who works for Porsche.

But it seemed to do the trick ok either way.

From Smithy mate - not doubting their genuine or anything, just curious.

I'm on standard size set-up by the way (SMW you have the Skyine set-up don't you?)

all brakes should really be bed in over about 100 miles allowing gradual harder braking! from my experience i fit brake pads every other day to peoples cars and in the long run this seems to give a better brake!!

still yet to fit my copperfield pads !!!

I agree with above,

with a lot of hard braking one after the other you will risk creating gas between the pads and the discs, and therefore have no brakes unless they are vented.
