PS leak

Looks like my PS high pressure hose is leaking, and from searching on here the Nissan part is quite expensive and it would be better to take the hose off to a hydrolic hose place to get them to make one up for me.

I've also read about a PS leak possibly causing alternator probs so best get it sorted sooner than later.

So any tips on removing the hose? draining the system first etc? Any other opinions or useful advise from those that have been there done that :)
