You might already have the de-restrictor fitted if you have MPH clocks...or it may have been chipped ;) but you will need to chat to J Dixon / or some one with the knowledge of chipping.....they will come along shortly i'm sure...:D:D

Cant really tell from the speed limiter alone - if it has been converted to mph this moves the limiter from 180kph to 180mph which you dont really get much chance to try to do ;)

Did you go just over 112 or enough to rule out speedo accuracy? Before mine was chipped it used to top out at an indicated 190kph

Pete

I understand the jap import is limited to 112mph, did over this the other day, has it been chipped ?

most likely had the kph to mph conversion done when the car was imported thats if your speedo is in mph.

Hi Pete,

I was more than 'just' over, speedo goes to 180mph, didn't go that far but far enough I think

The only way of really telling is to put it on a Conzult and have a look at the maps (quick way) or remove the ECU from the passenger footwell and see if its covered in stickers or open it up and have a look at the Eprom to see if its been socketed (long way)

what is the conversion, is it a different clock or is it a box of electronic tricks and the kph speed ?

it looks like it has a sticker stuck on it with mph on it

If you're referring to the clock conversion, it's a small black plastic box, about the size of a match box, I think it has 5 wires flying out, this is soldered on to the back of you Jap Spec Speedo, It alters the electronic pulse's from your speed censor and change's your clock to read 180MPH instead of 180KPH

As for removing the speed limiter to your car, (so it'll go over the 112) there are different ways to do this, the most common is an EPROM change, as suggested, but you can get "Piggy Back" ECU's that wire's into your original ECU loom, they "trick" the stock ECU in to thinking that the car is only doing 112, when infact your NOT! ;)
