Trying to sort out me response problems on the cheap. Phil at C&S suggested bleed valves might be an easy way of doing it, and I said there was a fairly low opinion of them... but I can see the theory.

He's suggested the problems might come from unbalancing the engine by using two - has anyone tried teeing just one in? Thinking about the plumbing at the front of the engine this should be pretty easy.

Any thoughts?

Mapping not an issue for me because a) it's chipped and b) I'm not looking for mega boost, just better response, I'd probably go for 11-12 psi or so only.

so why not just use boost jets ???

Have seen a few cars now with one Bleed valve Teed before and after the bleed valve , ie from intake then back out to actuators , so yes its possible

Using 2 shouldn't matter anyway as the balance bar joins the turbos anyway.

You can use 1 but I don't see the point and I've no idea what size you'd need.

Ask Macca as his Z used to have a single bleeder in it (or is it 2 including the driver?) :D

I think SE did them that way.

A bleed valve is just an adjustable jet so it can only be better...

as ryan say, use jets. bleed valves vent to atmosphere affecting air mass. boost jets dont!

look here for more info on jets :)

Ah, so here's the problem with doing things on the cheap then:

Boost jets give me boost spikes

Bleed valves give me a metered air leak (and therefore rich running)

Chris, not sure the balance bar joins the turbos at the right point in the circuit... ?

you will not get serious boost spikes running 12psi (0.2-0.4) thats about it, the smaller the boost jet the bigger the spike. FYI boost controllers also need to spike to be able to hit there desired level , if you have ever looked at boost graphs on boost controllers there is always a little spike before the boost settles

AVC-R on the black Z spiked a bit in hot weather but not otherwise that I recall, and AVCs are supposed to be spikier than most!

i've got some 1.2 m jets if you want em, got 10 from a local supplier, fit nice and snug too, also have 2 1m too
