I'm picking up my first Z on Saturday 19th

During the test drive the speedo was intermittant (i'ts a j spec manual tt that has been converted to mph) what is this most likely to be and would it cause runnng problems ?

Featured Replies

Usually the speedo converter.

Did the steering go harder or anything?

speedo problem update, picked the car up last night, from cold the speedo does nothing, the hicas light doesn't come on and the steering is not affected. after around 10mins, the needle starts flicking between 0mph and the speed you are doing, then, eventually it will work properly. any ideas, will it be the convertor, dodgy connection ?

I think I've fianally sorted it.

After focusing my attention on the convertor (resoldering the whole board, replacing the crystal and checking all conections) I thought I'll look at the speedo it's self, took it out last night and resoldered everything (couldnt test drive, pi55ed). this morning the speedo worked fine all the way to work, so fingers crossed, that's it :-)

Sorry Paul,

I missed you replying to this message as I would have said something.

Yes sometimes the solders do go on the dials and with a speed converter there are more solders to go wrong.

There is infact a writeup on the internet on how to check and resolder the back of the dash. Seems though you have sorted it yourself. I wasnt so lucky with mine when my speedo stopped working. It ended up actually being the dial itself that was broken.
