Hks blow off valve help needed!!!

Hi ya fitted the HKS sequential blow off valves after cleaning and colour coding.Howevever the small pipework and `t` pieces were included as fitted to the zed they came off.Having now disconnected the standard units below the air filter, tested the car no woosh and a drop in turbo boost available!!!. anyone sure of the layout of the pipework?? the units fit in place of the two outer rubber intake pipes, should the small actuator pipes be connected to the same side small outlets ? or not, confusing I know but as it is the car is slower and no dumping taking place,I did expect not to hear as much as with a manual gearbox , but I am not sure they are even working at this point and why the drop in boost, do the originals need to be left connected???helpppp Jeff TT

Jeff,

Have you plugged any pipes you've disconnected??? The vac lines to use for the actuators are the ones that come out of the side of the plenum heading towards the front of the car, often tie-wrapped to the boost hoses....

Hope this helpZ,

Andy

Jeff, sounds like a massive air leak as Andy mentioned.. Very large if you're losing power, possibly either the recircs are stuck open, or if you removed them, the BOVs you put on are stuck open...

BOV's need a vacuum line attached to open them BTW, they should, however, be normally closed with nothing attached to them..

Oh and on an Auto, you'll only hear them when you jump off the throttle - a BOV will only open when the throttle plate is closed (and you'll only hear it when there is boost trapped in the system prior to the throttle plates).

The more I think about it the more I think there is a vacuum leak. Would explain drop in power AND no dumping action smile.gif Check there's no lines been knocked off etc....

Ok found the problem ..sort of, I had disconnected the original recirc valves by disconnected their vacuum lines and capping.

Reconnected these now and full boost back and woooosh when backing off all be it fairly quietly.I think then the original recirc valves required some boost pressure to keep them closed. As they are now, it works but I think tommorrow will remove the actual by pass valves completely so they cannot influence anything and cap all ports, this should give more woosh as the blow off valves will be doing all the work, thanks for all suggestions, got there eventually. Jeff,

All you need to do it to remove the 1" tube that loops round the re-circs and plug the holes. You can get bungs from a home-brew shop - I did mine by putting a bolt through the hole in the middle of the bung and tightening it once in place to expand the rubber..... if you get what I mean wink.gif

hello jeff you should get quite a bit of noise from them as i did especially as youre running more boost aswell. anyway make sure the circlips are seated correctly as i had to remove them to get them out "T"......
