Oh my god, just got a quote off of Nissan Crawley Down...... I actully cant get over this so I would like some friendly advise on how to get it done cheaper....

 

I asked for cambelt change and a Full service (its nearly at 60000) and they quoted me the following

 

10 hours labour for cambelt change.... at 69.50 an hour

 

2 hours labour for service (thats fine)

 

total bill including parts

 

£ 1273.70

 

Is it just me or is this taking the piss???

 

Does anyone know of anywhere in the south east that knows zeds really well, preferably around the crawley/east grinstead area. Or.... is there a member that wants some private work for cash??

Yes Martyn is excellent! Get the cambelt kit from Coz at CZP from America, there are varying levels of kit you should go for, I would recommend the most expensive as there is no such thing as a cheap shortcut when it comes to our cars!

£695. for a cambelt change!! + VAT?? = £816.

The local Z Garage to me (Nailsea, Somerset) very good reputation, all the latest equipment, charge about £250.+vat.

You could have it transported here and it would still be cheaper!!

Bloody el that is cheap, considering you can't get all the proper parts for £250!!

To be honest I would go for the upgrade with the UD pulley kit, then get Martin to fit it! 07979375230, is his number!

Is the book time for a cambelt not 4 or 5 hours.

Yep - Martyn seems a nice guy - my car is booked in with him for this Thursday!

I'm not sure I'd touch an pulley kit that replaces the main crank damper.

So far my experience with main dealers labour charges that I have had work done at...

 

Land Rover on two range rovers I've owned in the past...48 squids an hour

 

Toyota that I have used for years 55 squids an hour

 

Captain Kirk, Merc 65 squids an hour

 

So IMHO Nelson really are taking the p1ss! :(

Thats the way to get a job done with a dealer, a fixed price quote, but obviously they have been stung before with a job probably being quoted for but running over standard times and they are just covering their arse by quoting 10 hours for the cambelt change, but it would be interesting to see if another Nissan Garage give a similar quote in the same area. Also surely there must be a bit of negotiation with that labour rate, absolutely shocking.....no wonder dealers get a bad name.

Anyway dealers are a bunch of robbing *******s, i know i work for one.

New wiring loom +all the censors

Full service

Cab belt, water pump, sparks etc

New induction.

 

came to £1500 fitted. Think nissan take the piss, and seeing as most dont know the cars at all I think its taking the piss even more

most main dealers are £70+ around here

 

we charge £75+vat ph. go to london & expect to pay £90-100 ph!!
