Hi all, now I have anew Zed. But this time its an Import, few thing that Are different:

(1) When I put the car in reverse (auto), it makes a beeb, beeb sound. But only when I select reverse is this normal?

(2) When I put my foot on the brake padel a Red 'Lights' on the dash lights up. But the brake lights work.

(3) What does the 'Power' button do? As my old auto UK did not have it.

cheers for the help, Alastair.

1 Yes this is normal and you will also have a beep when you go over 110 Kmh (http://www.aus300zxclub.com/tech/Alarm.htm)

2 This will just be a loose bulb probably in the spoiler brake light. Mine does this and just have not got round to fixing it.

3 Power button (Do a search) ;)

Yes

That generally means that one of the brake lights is out. Check all the small bulbs in the light on the spoiler. If that's not it, it could be that a previous owner has rewired the lights to use one of the brake lights as a fog light.

It's the equivalent of a sport mode. It holds the gearbox in a lower gear than it otherwise would

Thanks for your help :)

No 2: mines the same mate, it's where the importers swap

one of the bulbs, to make it into a fog light, better than a

ugly ''stand alone'' one screwed to the bumper! It thinks there

is a bulb out, hence the light comes on.

in power mode it also lets you get all of the revs all the way up to about 7000rpm before it changes up although I only use that in emergencies (BMW M3 in rear view mirror  )

IMO power mode is not needed at all unless you're towing something up hill, which is unlikely in a Z!

If you boot it in normal mode it will still red line.

Yep as SSBob says - the "lights" warning light will be because of the way the resistance is changed by wiring up the fog lights, it thinks theres a bulb blown but there (probably) isnt, mine does this too.
