Can I just point out that my point about the fox hunting ban is that the political parties promise summat to get elected in the first place and then don't carry it out! ;)

Seriously though, ages ago I worked in Borneo, in the 'pristine tall pole forest' 20km upriver from Palankaraya in Central Kalimantan. I had to sleep in a big open-ended shed at night.

If the bear got the first strike, I reckon it could knock the tiger out. But if the tiger got it's teeth into the bear's neck, the bear wud b in trouble. But stronger bear cud then use it's weight and paws to sctratch the tiger on it's underside - wud make good (sick) TV to watch !

However, I cannot believe the number of people who appear to be duped by the white supremicist bigots that are the BNP. Clearly they will be as good at lying about how much they can solve Britains issues as each of the other parties. Reading through their manifesto today, I agree there are some attractive propositions (transport in particular) as there are in the manifestos of other parties. However, the racist/discriminative undertone of their policies is enough to put me off.

 

Assuming this lot lie as much about what they can deliver as the other parties appear to, all you are doing by voting BNP is running a great risk of ruining the cosmopolitan environment that has evolved in this country, replacing it with unintelligent race-hate and even more discrimination than currently exists. I can hear the cries of "they come over here and take our jobs" already!!

 

 

 

I understand the rationalle behind what you are saying but in this country of positive discrimination and proactive politics, it is also understandable that people are swinging towards the right. I would say that most of the people who vote/ would think of voting for the far right are concerned about what they see as the demonisation of white middle class british people. You only need to read the papers to see the situations that concern people ie if a british person wants to fly the Union Jack they are called "little englander" (most people seem to forget there are a few other countries involved, but ho hum) but a man can stand in a street in the middle of our capital city and decry our beliefs, way of life and wish death upon our citizens and go unmolested. There is a section of our "ruling elite" who have a set idea of how thiungs should be and they enforce it, irrespective of the views of the common people (by which I mean black/white/yellow/whatever). It doesnt matter to them that most immigrants are happy to think of themselves as British and muslim, asian, chinese, budhists whatever, these people want to enforce their view and that attitude is what will cause racial tension and incite the extremists on both sides

There is the failing NHS, the failing justice system, the issue that pension funds have been dishonestly inflated and scammed to buggery, the war in Iraq, the failing armed forces, the interfearence in peoples everyday lives, the massive taxation racket, the failure of all government departments on all levels, corruption, incompetence, lies, more lies, cover-ups, but don't worry about any of that, lets concentrate on the poor furry foxes!! :rolleyes: :xxx:

 

Quite agree - but NONE of those issues are anything to do with local elections, or even the European elections, in any case.

 

I lived next door to the Conservative cllr in my ward for a while, and quite aside from his politics he's a total :xxx: - but unfortunately the area I live in is 3 Tory seats safer than a very safe thing specially trained by safety experts.

 

I've been disenfranchised in any case. They have sent me a Council Tax bill in the correct name (for the wrong amount - there's only one of me! And they still owe me the 25% from last year) - yet the voting stuff has all arrived in the name of the previous occupants. How the hell did they manage that?

Governments should not see fuel tax as a good way to fill the treasury coffers, but should be using the BILLIONS OF POUNDS to devise/invent/refine alternative fuels - (solar/wind/thermal/even cold fusion!) But will they? Not until there are only 4 years of oil left and an election is coming up.. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Well said, Jock .. I don't believe the support that the BNP has garnered in this poll is because people are 100% in accordance with all of their policies, and definitely not the "discriminatory undertones", but it's a pure and simple Protest Vote.

 

What they've done is to pick up on a growing form of resentment that comes about as a direct result of the things we've all been discussing here. Issues such as positive discrimination, immigration and the seeming willingness to protect those who profess sentiments not supported by the vast majority of the country and villify those who say what the vast majority are thinking.

 

To me, the liberal intellectual elite have a very clear idea of how they'd like us to lead our lives, their way. Of course, this subtle form of control is cleverly administered by the spin doctors of the government, but I think it's becoming increasingly evident. Hence the protest vote here.

 

That's the way I see it, anyhow ... personally, I'll be happy to vote Tory on the day - but that's a whole other story :D.

Unless I've missed something, the gentlemen in question are British, born here, with British passports. I don't believe the BNP have an issue with that.

I believe people who are voting BNP as a 'protest' vote are kidding themselves, there are other ways to make a protest (spoiling your polling cards for one).

Mixing these things only causes trouble, because we all want to mix with our own kind - ne1 who says differently is a liar. Racism is a double-edged sword - aren't immigrants being racist in wanting to fill our country with THEIR culture/religion etc ?!

 

We shud accept second generation immigrants, but they shud speak English IMHO as their first language. We shud restrict new immigrants because of the above reasons and because we are crowded enough on this small island. As a rich country, we cannot let everyone in, not simply to protect our own interests, but to maintain order in society.

It is a dillema as we need people to fill the jobs. As we get richer and demand more services and entertainment, there are lots of jobs to fill that we do not want to do.

I am not racist in the slightest, but the bit I do agree with is the out of control influx of illegal immigrants into Britain. Read today that the number could be more than 10 times higher than official figures.

 

There should be much tighter control, get a fast track to boot out all the illegals, then selectivley invite immigrants into the country as and we need them.

Here here! Several major bodies within Islam, have actually said out loud it is their long term intention to make the UK a muslim country by flooding us with immigrants & breeding us out by siezing power from within! Couldn't this be interpreted as a hostile act? If you did the same with a company it would be called a hostile takeover.

I have been an immigrant in a country with a major culture difference, and I have one thing to say. I respected their culture, I didn't go out and play football in the middle of the day when everyone went for a nap. I did my best to fit in and live in a manner to which the people there were living. I did not demand that the school taught me in English, I learnt their language properly, including accent, grammar & slang. I ate their food. Respected their laws and way of life. I was also called 'pink' 'whitey' or whatever and at the end of the day they were only words, I stood up for myself, integrated and was accepted, just like many blacks/coloureds/arabians/far eastern asians have in this country. What I oppose is those who have not! and crap like this.
