Well It Had To Happen Eventually!

My Zed has let me down for the first time in 13 months......(13... )

Had to wait for the AA and the car is now in Z3dworld. General idea is that it's the fuel pump, fuel pump relay or something pump/fuel related as the fuel is not moving through the system!! :( (accourding to the AA guy, also I thought this myself.....mind you it's not rocket science, no fuel, no go!)

I was travelling along and the Z just died on a very busy road with no where to get off so I had to drop the Z on a grass verge (shout at the Z a few times) and call the AA....first guy comes out lifts the bonnet and says "I'm not messing with this" and I asked him to send a flat bed......

Second guy sticks it on a flat bed and takes me over to see Jeff......awaiting the verdict now!!

Not much fun standing in the rain for 3 and a half hours......:(

(fingers crossed for something cheap!!) ;)

Haven't you just been messing with the fuel lines? Did you take out the FP relay to purge the system before disconnecting the Fuel filter?

Just what i was thinking!!

Erm...........should I??

I took off the old fuel rail and put on Smithy's braided hoses about 6 months ago and did not have to do that.......

I was out in it last night for about 20 mins (round islands and corners testing new brace) and this morning went to the garage, filled up and drove 5 mins before this happened.......

Would it take that long??

If you managed to change fuel lines and what have you without purging first I think you must have pressure problems anyway... mine was bad enough just from vapour pressure when I left the car for a while having already purged it!

I always take the petrol cap off and wait for 30 mins or so for the pressure to drop so no need to perge the system.......

....With the cap off there is no pressure.... (circa Matrix, there is no spoon!) ;)

I know the pressure is well sorted as I did for get one after starting the Z to check for leaks on the new braided hoses I forgot to release the pressure before removing the hose at the filter and 'whoooosh' 10p worth of optimax gave me that just jet washed look..........:D

I think it's the lines that are pressurised as well as the tank so removing the fuel cap would only release the tank pressure.

However saying that I assume you did the fuel lines when the car was cold (i.e. sat a night before doing it) if so then you wouldn't have had a great deal of pressure in the lines themselves (well I didn't). Still got soaked in Optimax all the same

Well the update is that, when a new MAF was fitted she purred like a pussy cat!!

The MAF was buggered along with a very 'dirty' CAS connector.....

Not happy about the MAF (MAS) as I've only just replaced it.........:(.....lasted about 2 weeks......

I'm now in the market for a new MAF (MAS!)

Then I think you should send it back to where it came from,If you are going to pay £125 for a second hand part I would expect it to last more than two weeks.

MAC I have PM'd the person who supplied it to me, just waiting for a response.
