Further to my mate including anti-Zed comments in his Fast Ford interview, he has now reckons he can beat any Zed owner over a standing 1/4 in his 350-380bhp Sapphire Cosworth (4x4)

I am obviously going to do my best, however what I would really like is for several Zed's to stuff him at Santa Pod. We are aiming at USC (6-8th August).

Inetersted parties?

By the way I don't think a standard Zed would come close.

I wouldn't back down from the Cossie, if he's there in the que at the same time as me I'll have a go at Smokin' him, not saying I can beat him but I'll deffo have a go.

Top man, reckon the MR-2 would kick it's ass aswell! LOL :)

Yeah - but the main thing is that the Zed can do it day in day out no probs - the cossie will pack up pretty soon.....

is 1/4 mile shite cos you cant win?

LOL :)

Sorry I'll rephrase that, 1/4 mile is sh1te IMHO and is only my thoughts on the exercise! ;) :)

Mind you I do like watching Top Fuel dragsters going head to head, now a 1/4 in a couple of seconds at over 200 mph is a bit more entertaining than watching semi fast Ford's. ROFLMFAO :)

Well I'm back from the Pod and I am pleased to report that I win this partcular bout.

Raced said Cossie twice on Saturday and despite only running a 14.2 and 14.3, was victorious on both occasions due to him missing gears

To be fair, he had me off the line the second time until he engauged 5th instead of 3rd half way down. :)

USC - excellent weekend, will post my times on the events section.

Ha,Ha.......

Dont take the P of of his car just keep remanding him how nervous he was up against a Z.........

Good un M8

Nice one mate, I was there and saw the said race and it was most enjoyable to watch... :) :) :)

Well done mate, knew you could do it! Your times were a little dissapointing though, what were the conditions like? Did u get bad starts?

Are you running any extra boost?

This thread warms my heart. It really does. Alex -

Goes to show some people are more interested in modding the crap out of their cars but forget to learn how to drive them... lmao

Well my starts need work I'll admit, but the worst thing is my clutch needs adjusting so engaging gears quickly is difficult as well.

Should be at 15 ish psi, but was hitting the warning all the time and dropping to 12 ish on all the runs, not sure if it was the heat or Profec B settings (the latter I think as on the way home a bit of tinkering saw me back to 15.4 very stable all the way through 4th.

I will improve with practise no doubt about it, maybe to low 13's but dropping below that may be elusive without further mods.

I have the two races on AVI video, not that great quality but I can e-mail them from work if anyone wants to host them for me?

It was a bloody hot one my car read 39deg on saturday afternoon and it would not run over 10psi and was running like crap all weekend on a normal day it runs 13/14psi I even pushed it down to the start to keep the engine heat down but made no difference!

took it to work this morn fairly damp because of the rain, it ran sweet as a nut back on 13/14psi again :(

I dont know if its me but I dont like that strip, could'nt stop spinning in first and second even got a couple of screeches from third! as soon as it would start to spin I'd feather the throttle to gain traction, nail it again come back on boost and start spinning again!

30DEG!! Fecking 'ell, not surprised the times werent tops!!!

Mmmm, Alex, have you read the post from Zhound, if your running 15psi or thereabouts and your engines in good nick, you should be pushing out around 340ish bhp at least, maybe more.....

You should be able to get into the 12's with that amount of power, the start makes ALL the difference, have you tried different tyres??

yeah I've been reading that, but nailing the start is more difficult than it sounds mate believe me. It's one of those things that takes practise, my time obviously improved on the Sunday as I got a 14.1, 13.9 and 13.7.

My car is a road car at the end of the day and I can't be arsed to change wheels and all that. Plus I believe the Pod is notoriously slippery, it seemed that way to me anyway.

As JD said it was f ing hot i saw 33 and 34 degrees and I am sure I was at least 30bhp down, probably more. As soon as the cool air and slight rain hit the i/c's on the way home the car flew and you could feel the difference in shove that those few extra psi make. I would hope that my car makes about 350-360 on a good day.

Alex, I hear what your saying about the start, do u have standard alloys? They are supposed to make quite a diff if u lower the pressure......

I think Shrimpy practised his on the streets!! LMAO, he got a 13.4 though but I am sure you could have done better under different conditions.....Was this your first time? I cant wait! lol

Yeah, was a Pod virgin on the Saturday, to be honest it was such a rush to begin with, then I got all moody after not doing as well as I'd hoped. Overall though it's great fun no matter how you do.

I have standard alloys at the mo yes, but again didn't want to mess with the pressures too much. Have a look at my time in the USC sticky in events mate.

Run at 15 psi you will get a better launch, a lot of top drag cars run as low as 4 psi as a friend of mine with an 8 second car was telling me about it. 15psi will deffo improve your launch but it is still safe and you will not experience any Tyre Shake at that kinda PSi.
