Further to my mate including anti-Zed comments in his Fast Ford interview, he has now reckons he can beat any Zed owner over a standing 1/4 in his 350-380bhp Sapphire Cosworth (4x4)

I am obviously going to do my best, however what I would really like is for several Zed's to stuff him at Santa Pod. We are aiming at USC (6-8th August).

Inetersted parties?

By the way I don't think a standard Zed would come close.

Recently ran a 14.3, however claims of late 12 seconds are being made. Bit sceptical myself.

Also, plans for 50bhp NOS kit is being mentioned!

Yeah would take some Zed to nail that sucker, Waht are his times ~12.8s?

EDIT, you posted as I did, a late 12 wouldn't surprise me at all.

A 440bhp S13 (RWD) has done 12.56, so a 4WD 380bhp cossy will not be too far behind.

No Mike, he has a decent spec list which I can paste if anyone is interested, but it is quick.

MAC???

I'll be there :D Oh yeah, I'll also WASTE him for you ;):D

Mate I will be there, I dunno about wasting him, was at avon park this last weekend, and 4 x 4 is a PITA to try and beat - got slayed by a evo ....twice

does he think he can waste any zed owners car?? cos tattooman is hoping to have his hot rod up at usc as well as his zed That would be interesting 4x4 Vs American muscle??? Oh its a 34 coupe with a small block chevy V8 btw see if he fancies that one for size!!

Nice one Mr Duff.

Here is his spec he has just sent, if it means anything to anyone.

Means fa to me but I've seen this car beating most standard evo's scoobies etc fairly easily.

Same power, lighter, shorter gearing... you do the maths.

lol@duffer you know ure gonna have to eat a big slice of humble pie my money is on the cossie all day long. top end you may reel him in but on a 0-60 sprint ure toast m8

Scorpion 4" exhaust with flamer kit

:D Cant see anything beating that!!

But at the end of the day it is only a FORD with a bolt on turbo    I had a 3door Sierra Cos and I have to say it was CRAP.

No mid range power and poor workmanship.I would never buy another Ford thats for sure.

Basically the same turbo I have on my car at the minute. :)

Shame he doesn't want to challenge some 200sx ass, Richie ran an 11.9 @128.5 yesterday in his S13. :)

EDIT: A rare occurance but I agree with MAC. :)

Cossies are a bit grim apart from the lump.

Can't agree with what you say and I never will

I went to ultimate street car last year! one of the best meets I've been too! I've got to admit I got beat by a cossie that was running 12's and me 14's my best was a bloke with a gts skyline who said it was 400bhp and I pissed all over him

there was a ferarri 355 that went up there 13.9 sec

Hmm...not much confidence on here then!

At least if one of Jezz's SXOC mate beats him I can laugh.

Mark by the way if you read this, the owner of this is the guy that brought your black XR2 off you - still going strong by the way!.

If he puts that NOS on there, I'll race him on my push bike ;) . I dont think it'll make the 1/4  ;) . A very good friend of mine had a very similar spec list, all be it a 2WD sapphy. He kept wrecking diffs. He got a quaiffe one put a 50 shot on the car and promtly fired a rod out of the crankcase on it's first outing PMSL

Hi Alex, Yeah I am reading this mate.....good to see the old XR is still pulling.

Drop a 200bhp RS Esc lump in the 2 and then race him

Personally mate, I think a mildly tuned Zed will give him a good race.

All in all though, work out how much money the 4x4 has had spent on it and then put that into a Zed and then race it.......... ;)

Top bloke though I must say, so best of luck top him and whoever races him...

I'd be more than happy to race him when mines back!! Not sure what the output will be on mine though, depends on what boost I run I guess......Am hoping for about 340-360bhp with me current mods..... :D

I can't help thinking that this argument will become irrelevant due to a mechanical failure on his side not for the first time (the group A head gasket was a ultra strong group N until recently  )

I don't think I could contain my delight if he stopped half way down in a cloud of smoke :D

My mods will be very similar to your mate when all done, so I hope to at least make him work very hard on the 1/4.

A decent modded Zed would toast that cossie.

Don't care what you all think about 4x4 + lighter car for the quarter mile. A stock ZX is faster than a stock Escort Cossie over the 1/4 mile (14.4 compared to over 15). In fact 0-100 a stock ZX is over 3 secs faster (14.5 compared to 17.9) Autocar mag, 25/5/1994.

Therefore an equivalent modded ZX should win, no?

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I hope so! But looks like that is the minority opinion so far

Bear in mind this engine is a long way from standard, basically as far as you can go without going for a low compression re-build.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

have any of you ever been to the pod???? cossies rule... FACT

is 1/4 mile shite cos you cant win?
