is it a good idea to clean off all the crap that builds up inside the wheel arches or does it offer some sort of protection? If I clean it off, do I spray or paint anything on there like waxoil?

Its best to clean it off. If you leave a layer of mud on it the mud against the body stays damp and will slowly eat your body. I left it on the lip of my wheel arch and my paint is bubbling because of the dampness on the other side

It's also worth waxoyling. You need to do the back arches from inside with the rear interior trim off. The back arches are double skinned. So condensation can get down between. And the bonding at the arch may not be fully sealed with mastic.

Its that or £440 for each new rear wing + fitting + a re-spray. No guesses for why I know the exact price.
