When I went through the main entrance and saw that 2 of the main halls were virtually empty, I thoughT WTF, this is gonna be one scaled down sh1te motorshow!!
Happily it wasn't.
The Nissan 350Z is a fantastic beast and the stock price for them is about £24K, but if you want the extras like leather, improved sound etc and have the Nismo kit fitted, prepare to pay up to £29K..........!!! I would have glady drove away ANY of the 4 350Z's on the stand. :)
Other cars I looked at were the Mazda RX8. When I told the salesman that I am keen on the 350Z, he went on the offensive and bleated on about how the power to weight ratio of the RX8 was 50/50 AND the car was so much lighter AND the rotary (****el) engine was superb and less than half the capacity of the Z AND it will seat 4 AND AND AND!!!! Suffice to say, I succumbed to a free drink in the VIP area on the stand but I still wouldn't buy one. :xxx: The rear doors just don't do it for me and the shape well you either love it or you hate it!!
The Chrysler Crossfire looked quite impressive and with a 0-60 time of 6.5 secs, it has to be taken seriously doesn't it?? Well no, it doesn't.. !!! The interior has been styled by Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and the build quality, fit and plastics are poor. Nice looker though....
The stars of the show were undoubtedly the Aston's, Ferrari's, TVR's and the Porsche's. All of these respected manufacturers new cars were SUPERB (dream time again!!). The Aston was MY pick.
Weirdest car at the show was the prototype Pugeot utility/ hybrid vehicle (see Bigalz pics in the EVENTS). YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Ford stand was the most spectacular and expensive, doing some kind of Thunderbirds sketch with some small kid that looked like he was sh1tting himself in this huge capsule. On! and the Focus RS was nice too!!
If anyone goes, I recommend the LIVE EXPERIENCE. Won't tell you too much except that it's a little bit cheesy but certainly worth the extra cash to see some serious driving!! The "star" of the show, a PVC clad gorgeous bird called OCTANE, is worth the fee alone!!
TOTTY WATCH!!
I can recommend the MAX POWER stand, the FAST CAR stand, a stand that leases out High Performance Vehicles (!) and especially the SKY stand where I had my photo taken with some high performance totty (I'll post the picture later). None of the regular car manufacturers really use any scantily clad fit women any more (shame!!). Don't get me wrong, some of the women on the stands are bloody stunning, especially the 2 "bunny girls" wandering around (phew!!!).
I also bought a Pioneer base tube for £100 (retail £175), and Sony XPLOD amp for £69 (retail £149) and connection lead kit for £20 (retail £60).
If you do go, get a demo of the new Road Angel GPS detector. I bought this last month and it's ACE. But see for yourself. Only £379 at the show, I paid £399!!!
I went yesterday and it was surprisingly good!!
