I MAY have broken my clocks :xxx:

If I stick some UK clocks in a Jap Zed will the speedo be automatically correct?

i.e do Jap and UK cars use the same pulse and therefore is it the clocks themselves that convert that pulse to kph or mph?

If the answer is no, has anyone got any Jap clocks they want to sell??

Cheers

Rich

put uk clocks in and buy the converter from luke at z centre. it's dead easy to fit. see andy z for uk clocks

Thanks mate.

It currently has Jap clocks in with a converter so that the clocks will read MPH instead of KPH. I assume it is a different converter that you are talking about?

If anyone does have a spare set of Jap clocks I could buy, I'd prefer this option as I have just purchased some indiglo dials for the Jap clocks from Vijay.

Thanks

Rich

You shouldn't need a converter if you're putting UK clocks in.

I swapped the dials over as I had a series 1 car and a series 2 UK speedo and the connectors are different, but it worked without a converter.

My mistake Dave is right. I was thinking of just the dial sets

One thing to bear in mind is that if your converter is placed so that it also converts the signals for the cruise control and for the speed limiter, removing it will set those back to the standard Japanese values too. :(

However, there are other ways round those problems if you decide to do that and put UK clocks in: chip or SLD (Speed Limit Defencer) to remove the speed limiter and a bit of soldering in the cruise control unit to change the upper limit to 95mph or so. :)
