You have to paint the car first what ever colour you want it and then you spray a layer of flip coating over it. The place where I get my paint sells it for £100-£120 a litre.!

Well if they do the flip paint for £100-120 a litre then buy some cos it usually sells for about £300 for half a litre!!! its strange seeing it put on cos they put a black coat on first then the paint and its a special laquer that makes it change colours.

 

As a rough estimate its about £3000 to have a car flip painted depending on how much bodywork the car needs if your having a body kit fitted then it can be more, also make sure you go to a decent garage cos ove seen some really bad jobs done

I was actually thinking of doing it. Because you only need 1 thin coat of flip, 1 litre is enough to do a whole car, apparently according to the paint chap. What I am worried about is insurance as he said it makes some insurance companies hike up the cost a lot.

 

Plus I am worred about stone chips.

 

What you think? Should I paint purple and flip?

Forgot to say, most flip paints, its not the paint that flips, its the coating which causes it to flip. The colours which the paint flips depends on the colour of the paint on the car, I think :confused:

If you would have asked me that a year or so ago then i would say go for it as its quite rare to see but nowadays you see fiesta, corsas etc flipped painted so its getting common!!

yeh the one i was after is like the new Alfas with just a faint flip.
